Twelve-time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte just celebrated his baptism.
In a Sunday evening post, the swimmer shared a video of the moment and several photos from his baptism. The last photo was with his family, and Lochte could be seen wearing a shirt that reads, “I am new. Baptism Celebration.”
“I love sharing my life with my fans/followers. In this season of growing, I have learned that the only thing that truly matters is what God thinks of me,” he wrote in the caption of the post. “I made the decision to rededicate my life to Jesus, and today I was baptized!
“My heart is full of so much love and happiness, and I’m just so thankful for everything God is doing and going to do in my life. Thank you to all those who have loved and supported me throughout my life. You mean so much to me!” Lochte concluded.

In 2023, Lochte shared another video talking about his faith and how open he has decided to be about it since he is no longer an athlete.
“It’s been boiling in my mind and I just…and I’ve never done this before because we’ve always been told like you are an athlete, like you are all this, you’ll be very wrong for you to talk about politics or about religion or about things like that because people might get offended or anything like that. So I never did. I always stayed away from those kind of questions or anything or talking about that throughout my whole life,” he said in the video.
“Recently, me and the family have been going to church and my whole entire life, I’ve believed in God. I believe in God, but I need that extra 5% to really be like, ‘Yup, God. ‘ Like if I’m driving down the street and I say, ‘I want every green light for the rest of the way home…please God’, and it happens, that one, like little 5% that might give like, ‘You know what, I am sold. I’m one thousand million percent right there,'” he added.
One thing that Lochte does often is pray in the shower.
“I take a lot of showers because I love water, and every time I take a shower, I always sit down and I pray. I pray for my family, I pray for my friends, I pray for everyone in this world, and I always say ‘God please call on me, talk to me, let me know, let me get that 5%,'” he shared.
Praise God for Lochte’s decision to make Christ the center of his life!
