Radio personality Delilah Rene Luke shared how keeping her holiday plans simple makes the holiday a lot less stressful than it otherwise could be.
“It’s called the KISS theory: Keep It Simple, Stupid. You don’t need to be extravagant: the plastic plates, plastic cups that you throw away, so that you’re not up for five or six hours doing the dishes,” Luke told Women’s World. “The less work you have to put into something, the more energy you have to be there and to be emotionally connected. Keep it simple.”

By not having to spend hours on cleanup, Luke can put more time and energy into those she is sharing the holiday with. Furthermore, by not stressing about perfection, she enjoys the time with the loved ones she is gathered with even more.
“I really want to stress to people it’s not about perfection, it’s about being present and making those connections. Because it’s those connections that are going to last. It’s those memories you’re creating that’s going to last. Nobody’s going to remember if your napkins are spread out in a fan shape, but they are going to remember the stories you share and the laughs you share and the jokes you tell and the games you play,” the radio personality explained. “That’s what makes the holiday’s magic.”
Luke has previously reflected on the holiday season, sharing that she loves this time of year because the birth of Christ gives people something to find hope in regardless of their present circumstances.
“Christmas means that no matter how bleak the circumstances, no matter how poor the choices we’ve made, we are loved and worthy of God’s grace,” she said.
This hope meant everything to her after losing three sons in less than 10 years.
“I don’t know if I’ve found the purpose in the pain of losing my boys,” Luke previously told Woman’s World. “You can’t find purpose in the loss of a child. But what I have found is anticipation in being with them again, which changes everything.”
“My faith in God is so important to me and gives me so much joy and hope,” she added.
Despite the tragedies that she has endured, Luke continues to pour into millions through her projects. Her most recent work was with Sonos where she helped create a program for people to put on while preparing their holiday meals.
“[Sonos] floated the idea of putting together a space where people can listen and have me as their companion, kind of like when I’m on the air at night, only this just focused on being your best friend in the room with you while you’re getting ready for a gathering,” Luke said.
Luke’s faith is an inspiration for us all as she find hope in Jesus and shares that hope with the world through everything that she does, while encouraging her fans to focus on their relationships rather than having everything perfect for the holidays.
