Savannah Bananas star Coach Rac — aka RobertAnthony Cruz — and a few of his teammates plan to host worship nights across the country, but making them happen is a bit of a challenge.

“I have a dream of hosting worship nights all over the country. Now I want to do this with my teammates, but there’s one really big problem: if we were to actually host worship nights all over the country, it would be a logistical nightmare,” Coach Rac said in a video shared on social media. “No, really. Imagine hosting 20 birthday parties all over the country in cities you’ve never been inviting people you’ve never met, but that’s when I made a plan.”

“You see, my team is already traveling to a ton of cities next year, so that’s where we got the idea for the Sandlot Revival, where we host a worship night the night before a game in whatever city we’re in. Yeah, that sounds great. We could host worship nights. Players could share their testimonies, and we can magnify the name of Jesus,” the Savannah Bananas outfielder continued.

Another possible problem? A worship night entails music, and Cruz isn’t “musically gifted.”

“…initially, I was thinking, ‘Well, what if we just invited big-name Christian artists?’ So that’s where something with that didn’t sit right with me. I love to see the work God is doing through Christian artists right now. At the same time, I don’t want this to turn into some commercialized event where we’re, like, advertising, trying to get people there to see these things. I don’t care if five people show up or 5,000. I want people to experience the living God and have their lives transformed by it, because it’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”

Regardless of whether it’s a local pastor and local band, or Brandon Lake and Maverick City, Cruz wants the gospel to be preached to each city they travel to.

One last problem Coach Rac ran into is the ability to coordinate all of their revivals with each of the different cities. That’s why he asked for his fans’ help.

“Thankfully, I think God has brought some people into my life for such a time as this,” he said. “If you send an email to sandlotrevival@coachrack.com, my good friend Makai Key will coordinate with you to see if there’s a way that we can partner for one of these Sandlot Revival worship nights in your city.

“So this is where I need your help. Go look up our schedule, see what cities we are going to. We want to preach the gospel, yes, but beyond that, we want people to be connected to the local body of believers,” he concluded. “I still have no idea how we’re going to pull this off or what this is going to look like, but I am fully confident that the Lord doesn’t call the equipped, but He equips the called. So may the Lord bless you and keep you and cause his face to shine upon you. Hope to see you next year and to worship alongside you.”

He hosted his first Sandlot Revival night in October.

“We want to start here in Savannah hosting worship nights and connecting people to their local churches,” Coach Rac explained in an October Instagram video explaining his vision. “But we also want to be open to move wherever the Spirit leads…Want to worship God together in community, because that is where we found true peace and fulfillment and joy.”

While coordinating these nights isn’t easy, Cruz believes that God wants to use them to bring people to Him.
