Social media influencer and basketball player Tristan Jass relied on God as he prepared to undergo brain surgery yesterday to remove a tumor.
“After 6 years of annual MRIs of my brain, the doctors have finally decided it is now time to remove the tumor to see exactly what it is. I can’t lie, this is pretty scary, but I’ve been mentally preparing for the past few weeks and I’m ready to go to battle. God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers,” he posted on Instagram.
Jass then quoted Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
“Thank you for all the prayers and support! It doesn’t go unnoticed. Time to lock in for surgery! I’ll see you guys on the other side!” he concluded.

Earlier this week, Jass posted a YouTube video sharing how he found out about the tumor in his brain.
“So, this kind of all started in 2019,” he began. “I woke up in the hospital. My whole family was in the room. I didn’t know what was going on. And they told me I had a seizure. That led to me getting an MRI of my brain, which then showed that there was some sort of tumor, a lesion or a cyst on the right side of my brain.”
“He [the doctor] basically calmed me down a lot more. He said, ‘You have nothing to worry about.’ He said, ‘This looks like a cyst.’ He said, ‘We can’t be 100% sure that it’s a cyst unless we went into your brain and took out a little piece of it to sample it, but from the pictures, it looks like a cyst.'”
The doctor explained his next steps.
“He says, ‘Well, I want you to meet with one of my new partners. Not new to neurosurgery, but someone who deals with stuff like this a lot more. Quote unquote, he says, ‘My partner has more tools in his bag to take care of this kind of thing.’ He’s like, ‘I want you to meet with him as soon as possible. We should kind of get the ball moving and figure out what we’re going to do here,'” Jass recalled
“‘We’re going to take your images of your brain, and we’re going to present them to a tumor board, which is pretty much like a room of 30 brain surgeons that sit and they review images every week.’ They all come up with the best solution is,” Jass explained.
Keep Jass in your prayers as he recovers from surgery.
