Ever the motivational speaker, Tim Tebow encourages his followers to remember “why” they’re following Christ or pursuing their goals.

“When the days feel long and the challenges feel bigger than you, try to pause and ask yourself: what’s my why? That reminder is what can keep you showing up, even when it’s easier to step back,” Tebow wrote on social media on Jan. 26.

“Ohhh I needed this! Thank you! ✨💜✨” one follower wrote. Another said, “Yes! We also have to keep consistent when working towards the goals of our “why.” Wonderful reminder!”

Another follower agreed, “Your why keeps you grounded when motivation fades. It’s what gives direction to the effort. 🎯”

The same day, Tebow shared on X, “Life doesn’t slow down. But each new day is a chance to refocus. Let’s live with intention and pursue things that matter.”

Focusing on his “why” has gotten Tebow through a lot of difficulties.

The former NFL quarterback recalled his laser focus during hard practice times.

“I was always willing to put my body on the line and accept the pain so I could reap the reward. There were times when I was running drills for football that I’d think my legs were going to explode or fall off,” he said.

“It was tempting to give in to the pain and quit — it’s not like I hadn’t already pushed myself beyond my limit. But I remember thinking, It’s okay. I’d rather run around this stadium with my legs on fire and be the first one to finish,” he recalled.

His goal in life is to push himself and fight for what matters.

“Sometimes it’s outright painful. You have to do the hard things to get to where you need to go. My goal in life is not to be comfortable. It’s to push my limits…no matter the cost.”

Tebow writes about finding strength and motivation in his books, Shaken: Discovering Your True Identity in the Midst of Life’s Storms, This is the Day, Look Again and his devotional, Mission Possible.

“My hope for you is that you begin to live your life with a deeper sense of purpose, meaning and significance than ever before and make your life count,” Tebow said of Mission Possible. “Today, you can begin to live your life on a trajectory that sets you up to accomplish feats of eternal purpose.”

One of his devotionals in Mission Impossible, titled “A Crown That Lasts Forever,” cuts right to the heart of Tebow’s main message.

Tebow looks to Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 9:25, which says, “Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. So they do it to obtain a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.”

Paul was referencing the Isthmian Games, where athletes would compete for a prize wreath. But worldly rewards mean nothing, but eternal things mean everything.

So Tebow leaves readers with this thought: “Do a little soul searching. What are you really chasing after? Will it eventually wither away, or will it last forever?”

Let’s remember our “why” today.
