Here five faith-filled athletes to watch as the New England Patriots face off against the Seattle Seahawks for Super Bowl LX.
Drake Maye – Quarterback, New England Patriots
Maye never shies away from discussing his faith during interviews and press conferences. In fact, he sees his NFL stage as a God-given gift.
“I think the biggest things is using my platform to spread the Word and spread the Good News,” he told WEEI in Boston. “That’s one of the biggest things that I’ve tried to work on in my career, is using my platform to inspire young kids or inspire even older people that may not be into their faith as much. Just to know that it’s out there for everybody.”
“One of the biggest things in my life that I’ve learned is that there’s purpose and there’s passion. My passion is football, and my purpose is [being] a believer and being strong in my faith,” Maye emphasized.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba (JSN) – Wide Receiver, Seattle Seahawks
Smith-Njigba has had a standout season in Seattle as he is easily the go-to player for quarterback Sam Darnold.

During the NFL Championship, Smith-Njigba secured 153 receiving yards with one touchdown.
After the game, JSN couldn’t help but give all the glory and praise to God.
“I just want to give all glory to God. Without Him, I’m nothing,” he told the media after the game. “Just what He has had on this team and this city, so I just want to give Him all the glory. It’s an honor to be here in Seattle. It’s an honor to lace them up with these guys. For us to be going to the Super Bowl is a dream come true.”
Ernest Jones – Linebacker, Seattle Seahawks
Jones leads his team in tackles (126) as the No. 1 linebacker for Seattle. The athlete relied heavily on his faith in God to get through various challenges he’s faced.
“I’ve been through a lot this year, but earlier this week — I told a couple of guys — I found myself feeling stuck, and I found myself feeling like I was missing something, and what I was missing was God,” Jones told his teammates after a game in November 2025 where he was awarded the game ball for two interceptions. “I got back on my knees. I started back praying — and just look at what we got. It’s bigger than this interception. It’s bigger than that. I got my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, back, and I’m with my boys.”
TreVeyon Henderson – Running Back, New England Patriots
Rookie Henderson has helped his team reach the Super Bowl for the first time since 2018, but ultimately, football isn’t his priority. His faith in Christ takes the top spot in his life.
“I didn’t know who I was outside of football, but when I met Jesus, He showed me who I am,” Henderson said in an episode of the “Sports Spectrum” podcast. “He showed me who I belong to, and that’s God the Father, and that’s Him. So, I’m just so thankful that He gave me an identity and He gave me a purpose to start living my life for Him, start living my life for the Kingdom, and not for this world. Not for football, not for money, not for women. These things will one day perish, but the Lord, the Kingdom, the salvation that He has promised us is forever.”
Cooper Kupp – Wide Receiver, Seattle Seahawks
Kupp faced off against his former team the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship where he had 36 receiving yards with one touchdown. It was a full circle moment for the athlete.
“IT WAS WRITTEN,” the wide receiver shared on X after the game.
This will be Kupp’s second Super Bowl of his career. The first he won with the Los Angeles Rams.
“The Los Angeles Rams made a childhood vision a reality when they showed their belief in me on draft day…and today they showed continued faith,” Kupp shared in a post on X in 2022. “For that, I want to thank the Kroenke family, the front office, and Coach Movay. God is good.”
“On the mountains and in the valleys, He has been with us every step of the way. While we have been afforded the privilege to play such an amazing game, it is with humility we know each moment here is intentional, albeit temporary. We pray each day to be a light in this world, filled and guided by His spirit, and to make the most of every day according to His will. For His Glory!” he added.
Super Bowl LX kicks off Sunday, Feb. 8, at 6:30 p.m. ET. Catch the Patriots-Seahawks match up exclusively on NBC.
