Country artist Tyler Hubbard opened up about his faith and how his decision to read the Bible in a year changed his life.
“My wife and I have been on a journey lately, I would say, where she’s just passionately pursuing her faith and pursuing Jesus,” he explained on the “The Upload with Brooke Taylor and Tyler Hubbard” podcast. “And it’s been really cool to sort of watch her journey but along alongside her, just be there with her and support her, which has helped me grow in my faith.”
Hubbard, who made up one half of the country duo Florida Georgia Line, shared how his goal of reading the Bible in a year has changed his life.
“I made a goal this year. I wanted to read the whole Bible. And I’ve never read the whole Bible, and like I said, I grew up in church, and I’m not much of a reader at all, to be honest, so it’s always intimidated me a lot,” he admitted.
“But at the end of the year last year, it showed up in my closet, the One-Year Bible, and I thought…‘I’m trying to try this for a couple days, even before the year starts, just to see…test the waters and see how good this would be. I did it, and I really liked it,” he shared.

It helped draw the country crooner closer to Jesus.
“I’ve just really, like, got to know Jesus more, you know what I mean, and got to know His ways. And ultimately, [I’ve] kind of been able to carry those readings throughout my day. And it’s been, it’s been pretty cool.”
As Hubbard has read the Bible, one specific message has stood out to him lately.
“The one that has really been sticking out to me lately, especially, is how serious having no other idols,…and, you know, worshiping Him alone,” he said.
In Exodus 20:3, God commands, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”
Contemplating this led Hubbard to ask, “Am I worshiping my phone or my worship, and even my children, more than Jesus? You know what I mean.”
He emphasized that “it’s been a learning process, but ultimately, I[‘ve] just been praying for just, ultimately, to even get through the Bible. I’m just going to be proud when I get finished with it, but ultimately that He would show me, you know, what He wants me to learn through it.”
Although not a worship artist, Hubbard frequently uses his platform to encourage faith and talk about God.
“It’s just about [a] relationship, you know what I mean?” he said, describing what faith means. “A relationship with Jesus. For me, that’s what’s grown my faith. You do see Him, you do hear Him, at times, you can almost touch Him where it feels like, through life experiences and through different scenarios and prayer and all the things, He’s everywhere.”
Hubbard’s faith and hunger for God’s Word is a strong reminder of how the Bible changes lives.
