LIGHT OF THE WORLD

Quality:

****

Content:

+4 Biblical, usually Christian, worldview, with no questionable elements whatsoever.

LIGHT OF THE WORLD is a beautifully animated retelling of the story of Jesus’ later life and death, told through the eyes of a young follower, John the apostle. LIGHT OF THE WORLD is beautifully animated and entertaining, with a strong and inspiring Christian, biblical worldview, stressing faith, trust in God and family, and some suspenseful scenes and scenes of implied violence, so MOVIEGUIDE® advises parental discernment for young children.

THE KING OF KINGS (2025)

Quality:

****

Content:

+3 Some minor questionable elements. (Media-wisdom is suggested to discuss.)

THE KING OF KINGS is an animated movie that tells the story of Jesus Christ by having Charles Dickens tell the Gospel story to his young son, Walter, after Walter has just destroyed Dickens’ performance of Scrooge before a large London audience. THE KING OF KINGS is a terrific, powerful and moving way to introduce your children to the story of Jesus in a way they can understand.

THE LION OF JUDAH

Quality:

**

Content:

+4 Biblical, usually Christian, worldview, with no questionable elements whatsoever.

THE LION OF JUDAH is an animated allegory with animals rescuing a sacrificial lamb and finding out about Jesus. THE LION OF JUDAH goes in too many directions and the script needs reworking, but little children may enjoy this movie and, with their parents’ help, understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ even better.

DISCOVERING AN EMPTY TOMB: THE STORY OF EASTER

Quality:

*

Content:

+3 Some minor questionable elements. (Media-wisdom is suggested to discuss.)

Great Bible Discovery Series is a noteworthy attempt to teach children Bible stories, but, regrettably, its effectiveness will be greatly limited by its meager budget and lack of quality. The first episode, DISCOVERING THE EMPTY TOMB: THE STORY OF EASTER follows Jesus from his triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday to his glorious resurrection on Easter morning. Regrettably, the host needs much more direction and the script needs to be rewritten and child-tested.

THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE

Quality:

****

Content:

+1 Moderately questionable elements. (Discernment required for young children.)

THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, based on C. S. Lewis’s popular Christian fable, tells the story of four English children, who enter the land of Narnia, where they meet Aslan, the son of the Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea, who rescues the land from the evil White Witch. Despite some minor changes from the book, THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE retains most of its Christian focus and is tremendously exciting, thrilling and redemptive.

THE CHOSEN ADVENTURES: Episodes 1.1 – 1.6

Quality:

****

Content:

+4 Biblical, usually Christian, worldview, with no questionable elements whatsoever.

THE CHOSEN ADVENTURES, an animated series on Prime Video, follows the story of Abby, a curious young girl living in First Century Capernaum, where she’s taught many biblical lessons by her parents and by Jesus Himself. The first six episodes of THE CHOSEN ADVENTURES are very engaging, with lots of humor, a focus on God and Jesus, and many strong Christian, biblical values teaching forgiveness, prayer, gratitude, and Scripture.

HOP

Quality:

****

Content:

+1 Moderately questionable elements. (Discernment required for young children.)

Combining live action with animated animals, HOP tells what happens when a slacker in Hollywood literally runs into the son of the Easter Bunny. HOP is a very funny, high-octane children’s comedy with good moral lessons, but it has little to do with the real story of Easter, the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
