Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout might be one of the biggest names in the the MLB, but he knows that if it weren’t for his faith in Christ, he wouldn’t be where he is today.

“I put everything in the Lord’s hands, man. I know He’s always got a plan, and I know that He’s put me in this situation for a reason, because I know at the end of the day, He’s in control. And yeah, He got me through a lot of hard times, especially with all my injuries and everything. And you know, when the Lord’s got your hand, it’s unbelievable,” the outfielder said in a video from Jesus Over Baseball.

Most recently, Trout injured his left knee, which had already been surgically repaired twice, and has been out since April 30. But he believes he’ll be back on the field soon.

“I feel good,” Trout said, per MLB. “It’s been a very positive last few days. I’m not running, but I’ve been swinging the last three days. I’m up to 40 swings with no pain. Off the tee and flips in the cage. But the biggest thing will be running.”

Last April, Trout and his wife, Jessica, discussed the importance of taking Godly advice rather than worldly.

Jessica shared a graphic on her Instagram story with four phrases we hear from the world contrasted with four different Bible verses to combat those things.

According to Sportskeeda, the graphic read:

Worldly advice: “Follow your heart.”

Godly wisdom: “Whoever trusts in his own heart is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be safe.” (Proverbs 28:26)

Worldly advice: “Just do what makes YOU happy.”

Godly wisdom: “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)

Worldly advice: “Don’t go above and beyond for people who would never do the same for you.”

Godly wisdom: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” (Colossians 3:23)

Worldly advice: “You do you” or “You be you.”

Godly wisdom: “Instead, shape your lives to become like the Holy One who called you…you are to be holy, because I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:15-16)

While Mike and Jessica have navigated “life’s daily highs and lows,” the couple puts their trust in advice from God’s Word.

“Sometimes advice may sound ‘right’ or ‘good,'” she posted before adding, “but knowing scripture helps you choose never-changing Godly wisdom over inconsistent worldly advice, which is ultimately the only thing that fills your cup!”

Trout is one of the most decorated baseball players in MLB history, but all of that pales in comparison to what Christ has done for him. We love seeing athlete prioritize biblical principles over cultural trends and lean on their faith through trials.
