Amy Grant Releases New Footage from ’80s “Lead Me On” Tour

Amy Grant has opened up her vault to release never-before-seen footage from her 1988-89 “Lead Me On” World Tour.
“All salvageable film footage from the 1989 show is finally seeing the light of day, the first of which is the music video for ‘Wait For The Healing’ now available on YouTube,” a press release stated.
As a part of the project, Grant and her team plan to release a total of 15 new music videos, combining footage from the tour with shorts, reels and behind-the-scenes shots. The project also includes an unreleased 20th-anniversary edition of “Lead Me On,” recorded in 2008.
“I feel like the energy [of the tour] was this infinite circle eight coming out from me and the musicians, sweeping through the crowd, and the energy coming back to me and it just brought back so many amazing memories,” Grant said.
“Now all these years later to think why did we not [do] anything with this [footage],” she later added. “I just have to believe we are right on time [with this release].”
Looking back on this tour over 30 years later, Grant is amazed by the musicians who joined her, feeling like there was something special about the group.
“The thing that bowled me over was just what a talented band I had on the road,” she said.
“[I’ve] loved every band configuration I’ve ever had on the road and all are so special to me, but there was something unique about that group of players and singers during the ‘Lead Me On’ tour,” Grant continued. Some of the musicians who joined her became major artists, such as Michael W. Smith.
“There were so many of us on the stage and so many types of instrumentation like harmonica solos, flute solos, saxophone, mandolins, lots of keyboards and stacks of vocals, it felt like one big family reunion every night,” she added.
The Lead Me On Live 1988-89 project is available now.

“We dug through the archives and found some previously unreleased tracks and some rare remixes. We also found a few demos and ‘works in progress’. I even went back into the studio with @keiththomasproducer to redo one song entirely. Excited to share them all with you!” Grant posted to Instagram.
USA Today reports that the 30th anniversary edition will be feted with a July 9 double-CD reissue, featuring the original album remastered and a second disc of unreleased songs and remixes of “Heart in Motion” hit singles. On July 30, the album will arrive in remastered vinyl form.
