Andrew Cuomo’s International Emmy Revoked After Scandal

By Movieguide® Staff

The International Academy has revoked former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s 2020 International Emmy Award.

“The International Academy announced today that in light of the New York Attorney General’s report, and Andrew Cuomo’s subsequent resignation as Governor, it is rescinding his special 2020 International Emmy® Award,” the International Academy told Fox News. “His name and any reference to his receiving the award will be eliminated from International Academy materials going forward.”

Cuomo announced his resignation as governor after reports surfaced of a sexual harassment scandal. In his stead, Kathy Hochul was sworn in as New York’s first female Governor.

The organization previously praised Cuomo’s handling of the COVID-19 situation with the Founders Award for “his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and his masterful use of television to inform and calm people around the world.”

Cuomo denied the sexual harassment allegations but did apologize for any behavior that those working with him might call inappropriate.

In August, New York Attorney General Letitia James released a 165-page report that alleged that Cuomo sexually harassed at least 11 women during his time in office since 2011.

Cuomo previously expressed his irreverent view of God on national television.

Movieguide® previously reported:

So, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo told reporters in the mass media, including Cable TV News, recently, “God did not stop the spread of the virus. Our behavior has stopped the spread of the virus.”

He added that the number of infections and hospitalizations is down “because we brought the number down.”

“God did not do that. Faith did not do that.”

In 2014, Cuomo told pro-life Christians they should leave his state. He then signed into law the most radical pro-abortion bill in the United States, a bill that also promoted actual infanticide.

Clearly, Gov. Cuomo is a lost soul who has turned his back not only on his Catholic faith but also on Jesus Christ. He needs to repent or resign.

In the meantime, MOVIEGUIDE® urges prayer for the Governor and all those who think like him, or who may be influenced by hearing or seeing his comments on TV, the Internet or social media.

“Everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.”

– Jesus, Matthew 10:32,33 (ESV)
