Candace Cameron Bure: ‘My Faith Always Comes With Me’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Candace Cameron Bure recently spoke about how she navigates the entertainment industry as someone who is also greatly committed to her faith.

“Within my world of entertainment, I’m not even trying to raise a respectful ruckus,” Bure said while on RELATABLE WITH ALLIE BETH STUCKEY. “I’m just trying to be me. I’m trying to do the things that I love and do my job, and Jesus always comes with me, my faith always comes with me. I don’t leave it at the doorstep at home and then go to work; it’s just who I am.”

That dedication to her faith has informed her work throughout the years.

“I’ve always believed in family entertainment,” Bure explained. “I’ve been intentional about living my entertainment life in the family space, and the older I’ve gotten, it’s been more and more important to live it in the faith and family space.”

She continued, “I’m just trying to live by what I believe is true and right and honorable to God, and I remind myself that when I get scared of man, or the public, or the press, or the media; then, I go, ‘Well, who am I really going to fear? Am I to fear man, or am I to fear God? Who’s going to judge me on Judgement Day?’”

“I want to be able to stand as holy as I can and know I’m clean and I’m redeemed before God, and I know I’ll stand before Him on Judgement Day, saved by His grace through faith,” Bure concluded.

Bure has spoken about the importance of incorporating her faith and family values into the work she does as an actress and producer.

“My faith has always been very important to me,” Bure said in an interview with ChristianHeadlines. “While my movies haven’t been faith-based movies over the years, they were always just a stepping stone that if people wanted to look into who I am on a Candace Cameron Bure level — not a character that I’m playing — that [on] my website and when I would speak in interviews that I would be fully genuine and authentic in who I am as a Christian woman. And so that has always been a part of my life, really, since I’ve been in the business. And I’ve been in the business for over 40 years.”

She continued, “As our country becomes more and more divided over social issues, it’s also become more important for me as a woman, as a mother, and a person in our industry to be able to have a voice for what’s important to me, and that’s my Christian faith. And so making movies that have more faith content has become more important to me as I’ve gotten older.”

Bure posted about her conversation with Stuckey on Instagram, specifically their discussions about beauty standards in Hollywood.

“To those negative/false thoughts that takeover, the Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 10:5 ‘We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,’” the actress wrote. “We all have them and as a follower of Jesus, we have the power through the Holy Spirit to take them out of the dark and into the light!!”

Movieguide® previously reported on Bure’s faith:

Actress Candace Cameron Bure is known for living out an authentic Christian faith — something that’s generally perceived as a rarity in Hollywood.

“My faith is just my life, it’s a part of it. It naturally flows from me, and I feel like I’ve navigated my entire career differently than most people have,” she said. “The goal for me isn’t necessarily the next project or making more money or being a bigger star. I’ve always chosen the things that are true to me and that I’ve wanted to do.”

Bure hasn’t said yes to everything that’s come her way. In fact, she’s said way more “no’s” in her career. She said her decisions have always been respected in the Hollywood community.

“I just can’t not be who I am,” she said.
