Candace Cameron Bure Encourages Worshipping God ‘With Gladness and Joy’

Candace Cameron Bure recently partnered with the YouVersion Bible app to remind followers of the joy found in worshipping the Lord.
“Hey there, I’m Candace Cameron Bure, and I’m here to read you the Verse of the Day. Today it’s Psalm 100:2, ‘Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before Him singing with joy,’” Bure shared.
“Now, I love listening to worship music. And whether I’m having a great day or a challenging one, I love being reminded about who Jesus is in my life. I’ve also never considered myself to be a great singer,” she continued. “And thankfully, the psalmist who wrote this doesn’t say, worship the Lord in the right key or come before Him in harmony with the band.”
“No, we’re encouraged to worship with gladness and joy,” Bure added. “So whether you’re worshipping in your laundry room, or in your car, or in church, whether you’re pitch perfect, or whether you’re like me and don’t want to be the loudest one in the room, I hope you take this verse to heart. ‘Worship the Lord with gladness, come before Him singing with joy.’”
Bure’s encouragement is a great reminder about our call to devote our talents to the Lord. Christ asks us to point towards Him in all that we do, regardless of our skill. This is true for musical worship but also applies to all other aspects of our lives.
This is a lesson shown throughout the Bible, and when we humbly give ourselves fully to the Lord, He lifts us up. In Mark 12, Jesus tells the story of a poor widow who places two very small copper coins into the temple’s treasury while rich people throw in large amounts. Rather than focusing on those rich people, Jesus lauds the faith of the widow.
“Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others,” Jesus said. “They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything – all she had to live on.”
Through this story, the Lord shows how he cares infinitely more about where our heart is than our actual talent or ability. Thus, we can know that if we “worship the Lord with gladness” and “come before Him singing with joy,” he will delight in our worship no matter how we actually sound.
Movieguide® previously reported on giving our talents to the Lord:
Dallas Jenkins recently opened up about how God prepared his heart for decades before he finally found success through THE CHOSEN.
Jenkins has desired to be a filmmaker since he was young. After college, he was given an opportunity to help adapt his father’s “Left Behind” books for the screen. Starting as a secretary, he worked his way up during production. However, just before the movie began shooting, he left.
With the support of his father and the resources given to him through his successful series, Jenkins began work on a movie about a football team with faith elements.
“[My father and I] noticed that there’s a lot of people in Hollywood talking about making movies. Especially in the faith world, there was a lot of, like, faith-based filmmakers who were saying we’re developing, we’re trying to get this actor…but there wasn’t a lot of movies actually being made,” Jenkins said.
So, Jenkins and his father just got started with a project and created their football movie. Warner Bros. picked up the movie for distribution, and while it did not go to theaters, it ended up as a widely distributed DVD.
