Candace Cameron Bure Reveals What God Taught Her in 2023
By Movieguide® Contributor
Candace Cameron Bure is reflecting on what God taught her about perseverance in 2023.
“Perseverance,” she said on CBN’s “Newsmakers” podcast when asked about the biggest lesson God taught her last year. “Like, that’s all it comes down to—perseverance.”
“It has been a big year, and there’s things that I’ve been so excited about, I’ve been looking forward to all that God has provided. There’s also been hardships along the way,” Bure continued.
“I mean, there are, every year has its ups and downs, and I feel like what God has continually spoken to me this year is to, ‘Just keep persevering, keep taking one step at a time, keep doing what I’ve called you to do, and there’ll be fruit from it. Nothing will be in vain.’ And that’s exactly what I’m doing,” she explained.
Last year, she faced backlash for saying that Great American Family’s content would focus on traditional marriage versus LGBT storylines.
“I’ve taken punches before in my industry but it was at a level I hadn’t experienced yet, and it’s been very challenging,” she said. “Cancel culture is very real, and they were trying to cancel me.”
“So when I had a lot of these bullets kind of hit me in the last year or so, they’ve been a really big challenge to me personally, to my heart, to my character, to my relationships, to my jobs,” Bure confessed.
Through it all, though, she’s also been learning to “follow God’s lead.”
“There have been so many more encouraging notes and positivity that have been so valuable for all of us and me personally,” she said of her work with GAF. “To validate exactly what I’ve been doing on this journey with Great American Family and my career…I’m on the right track so I’m going to continue to follow God’s lead.”
This year, she appeared in GAF’s MY CHRISTMAS HERO.
“It’s really focusing on family relationships and the servicemen and women of our country who, you know, spend their time defending us,” she told Movieguide®.
“We just wanted to honor them—both past and present—current people in the service and veterans,” Bure added.
She also spoke about her excitement that so many people in Hollywood have found Jesus recently.
“It’s so exciting,” Bure said. “If I could just have the praise hand emojis, just all around all the time…I’m so encouraged by the amount of people that are really seeking God.”
“God of truth, God of love, and recognizing Jesus as savior. To see that actually be displayed within Hollywood and see people that are quite well-known publicly proclaiming their faith in Christ is so encouraging,” she concluded.
Movieguide® recently reported on Bure:
Candace Cameron Bure took to Instagram to share some of her goals for the New Year and to encourage her followers for 2024.
“Happy New Year! We did it. 2024,” she said. “I’m really excited about a new year. I really am. I’m looking forward to it, and I thought I’d start my day off right by getting up and getting out and getting some exercise.”
In the caption, she shared that she went on a jog to “start my new year off right with energy, positivity and movement.”
“I just went on my first 30-minute run or jog, I should say. I haven’t jogged in a couple of years…I decided that I need to add cardio back into my routine, aside from my circuit cardio. Just something a little extra. So, I’ve committed myself to 2 days a week, getting between 20 and 30 minutes of jogging in, or some kind of cardio,” she said of her fitness goals.
