Warner Bros. pushed back the release of its new animated THE CAT IN THE HAT from Feb. 27, 2026 to Nov. 6, 2026.

The studio changed the date to give the movie “a long runway to play throughout the year-end holidays when families and kids are more readily available,” per The Hollywood Reporter.

“In the wonderfully whimsical tradition of Dr. Seuss, THE CAT IN THE HAT comes to the big screen in his animated theatrical feature film debut, an all-new, epic adventure with an edge, where mischief, magic and mayhem reign supreme. Doing what he does best, the Cat — voiced by Bill Hader — spreads joy to kids in his hilarious, signature and singularly irreverent way, transporting them and audiences on a fantastical journey through a world they’ve never seen before,” a synopsis of the film reads.

“In the film, our hero takes on his toughest assignment yet for the I.I.I.I. (Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, LLC): to cheer Gabby and Sebastian, a pair of siblings struggling with their move to a new town. Known for taking things too far, this could be this agent of chaos’s last chance to prove himself…or lose his magical hat!” the synopsis continues.

Bill Hader will voice The Cat, while the rest of the cast includes Xochitl Gomez, Matt Berry, Quinta Brunson, Paula Pell, Tiago Martinez, Giancarlo Esposito, America Ferrera, Bowen Yang and Tituss Burgess.

The film is directed by Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja. Warner Bros. Picture Animation will produce the film with Dr. Seuss Enterprises.

Last year, Dr. Seuss Enterprises partnered with Little Dot Studios “to expand the Dr. Seuss IP within the digital landscape and specifically establish Dr. Seuss as a premier YouTube destination.”

“YouTube is such an important entertainment destination for families. Parents trust Dr. Seuss to deliver high-quality, educational, and entertaining content,” Susan Brandt, President and CEO at Dr. Seuss Enterprises, said in a press release. “The Dr. Seuss YouTube channel will bring our trusted and beloved characters to life in fun and unexpected ways. We expect our channel will be a go to resource for parents and teachers looking for content they can confidently share with the children in their care.”

Holly Graham, Chief Commercial Officer at Little Dot Studios, added, “Our unique understanding of YouTube content paired with the rich heritage and love of the Dr. Seuss brand will ensure the creation of an engaging, always-on hub. Dr. Seuss characters are already so beloved and we are confident that audiences are going to relish viewing their favourite characters in new and interesting ways.”

While fans will have to wait a little longer for THE CAT IN THE HAT, there’s certainly plenty of other Dr. Seuss content to keep them occupied in the meantime.
