Christy Carlson Romano updated fans on her battle with cancer.

Things are “definitely better than what I feared,” the KIM POSSIBLE star said but still has more steps to take, PEOPLE reported.

“I’ve got my tests back, my initial tests back, and it is definitely better than what I feared, but I do have a lot more tests to take, and I’m going to be meeting with an oncologist,” she explained.

She was told, “You have tumor cells active in your body, so that means you might already have a tumor.”

The protocol she has to follow now include taking eight weeks of immune boosting supplements and a five day fast.

The fast is “to essentially starve out the circulating tumor cells. Think of a tumor (if I have one) as a tree and those cells as seeds that need to be filtered out,” Romano said.

“I’m glad I did the test. I’m glad I got checked. I’m glad I am meeting with an oncologist next week for more information. Early detection is the whole point of testing before your life gets derailed and your options are vastly different,” she said.

Last year, she got shot in the face while shooting clay pigeons.

“I think the universe has been showing me that I need to take my health seriously,” she said.

“I’ve walked alongside and seen one parent live and one parent die from cancer,” Romano shared. “I am humbled by the various health scares I have undoubtedly had the last year or so. I feel spared, once again, and I live with the knowledge that I am here for a reason.”

Last month, when Romano revealed she might have cancer, she said she met the recently deceased actor James van Der Beek “a bunch” and cried at his memory. Van Der Beek died from colorectal cancer.

“It’s the time to have a strong sense of faith and know that it’s in Gods hands, most of it,” she said.

She tries to “really be grateful for like all the amazing stuff around you, and that’s why I always try to make jokes. I try to be funny not just because I’m trying to be light or stay relevant. I don’t share a lot, so when my book comes out, you’re going to find out a lot of stuff about me that you didn’t know,” she said of the upcoming release of her memoir.

She says she has a great support system — her loving family — and plans to make her health a priority.
