Country Singer Sees ‘God Continuing To Open Doors’ In Her Career
By Movieguide® Contributor
Country and Christian artist Anne Wilson is marveling at the doors God has opened for her in her music career.
“The doors that have opened for me have been absolutely amazing,” she said in a recent episode of her YouTube series REBEL IN THE MAKING. “Sometimes, I sit in awe and I just can’t believe that my life has gone from a little 15 year-old girl in Kentucky, to singing at her brother’s funeral, to signing a record deal, to now having my second album out and all the opportunities I’m getting in country music.”
She continued, “I never dreamed of any of it. I never thought it was even possible, and so to see all that come now, it definitely feels like it’s been a constant flow of opportunities since my first song came out three years ago and it’s been really cool to be a part of.”
Wilson touched on some of her recent career highlights, including her induction into the Grand Ole Opry’s Class of 2024.
“When I found out that I had been chosen to be a part of Opry’s NextStage Class of 2024, I was beside myself,” she said. “I love the Opry so much, it’s my favorite venue to play…The Opry has been so kind to me. They’ve been so inviting and so welcoming. It’ll forever be my favorite venue to play.”
Wilson celebrated the milestone in an Instagram post, writing, “A dream come true to be a part of this year’s Opry NextStage Class! So grateful for the @opry and all the incredible experiences they’ve given me in Nashville.”
The singer also spoke about her CMT nomination for Breakthrough Female Video of the Year for her single “Rain in the Rearview.”
“That was a rough day…it was freezing cold in November,” Wilson recalled. “I was having to sing with freezing cold water pouring down on me, in freezing cold weather, and it was miserable. I got really sick after we finished filming, so then when I found out I was nominated, it kind of made it worth it.”
Wilson has previously spoken about making the music video for “Rain in the Rearview.”
“This video was so much fun to shoot with @tkmckamy,” she wrote on Instagram. “I love getting to tell the story of this song visually and artistically in this way. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this song and video to life. I am so grateful and hope y’all LOVE it!!!”
Wilson finished the REBEL IN THE MAKING episode by looking ahead to what her musical career might hold.
“Getting the opportunity to take my music to a broader audience like that has just been a dream come true,” she concluded. “Some days, I feel like I have no clue what I’m doing, but I just see God continuing to open doors and I just keep walking through them and I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Wilson’s latest single:
Country and Christian artist Anne Wilson hopes that her newest song “Stand” will inspire unity in a very divided country.
Along with a music video of the song posted to Instagram, Wilson shared her heart in the caption.
“’Stand’ is out now y’all!!!,” she began. “These days our country feels so divided. It can make us feel afraid to speak up about things that matter to us. Writing my record, ‘Rebel,’ fired me up to think about how I can live my life and my faith boldly, unafraid to stand up for what I believe in.”
The award-winning artist continued by sharing how she hopes her new song will encourage others to stand up for Godly principles in a culture that has rejected them.
“‘Stand’ is a song that came out of feeling all those feelings,” she said. “I want to stand up for love in a world filled with hate, stand for peace where there’s division, stand for my faith in God, and stand for the freedom we get to enjoy in this great country. I want to stand proudly like a cross on a hill that stood for me and I hope you do too!”
