Danica McKellar Shares How to Find the ‘Most Important Moments’ in Life
By Movieguide® Contributor
Christian actress Danica McKellar is revealing some new insights on acting and life this week.
“Both in my acting world and also in life…when I get a script, you know, one of these movies for Great American Family that I love making so much, you kind of find, like, the really important scenes,” the actress said in a Great American Community video. “When the couple first meets, and then when they have their first fight or when they fall in love for the first time but they don’t want to admit it yet, or then the big scene when they finally get together or the big breakup before they get together. All those big scenes, right?”
“But then there are all the in-between moments. And there can be a dangerous tendency to think, oh well, those aren’t the important scenes,” she explained. “But a long time ago, I started thinking of them a little bit differently.”
She started to ask herself, “What if it’s the most important scene of the entire movie, and I just haven’t realized, as an actress, why that is yet?”
So now, when she acts in a scene, she tries to figure out why it may be most important. She used a scene from her GAF movie, CHRISTMAS AT THE DRIVE-IN, as an example. Her character, Sadie, is really busy, but her love interest, Holden, convinces her to help him make some sweet treats.
“It could be one of the scenes that’s like, okay, whatever, it’s a filler scene, right? We have to have it to, like, move along,” THE WONDER YEARS actress said. “But then I said, well, what if this were the most important scene of the entire movie? Well, if you really think about it, it’s the first time that Holden and Sadie agree to do something truly together. And that’s a big deal,” because the characters are rivals.
For McKellar and scriptwriters, there are no filler scenes. All of them are important. And the same thing goes for real life, too.
“Who’s the writer in life? We participate, but it’s God,” she said. “God doesn’t put any moments in our lives that aren’t important. Maybe we just haven’t learned how to recognize that.”
“I want you to ask yourself why might this be the most important moment in my life.” she told listeners.
Movieguide® recently reported the actress’s thoughts on Easter:
“I’ve always loved spending Easter with a big family brunch, egg hunts for the kids, etc,” Danica McKellar said. “But Easter became much more significant to me in 2022, when I had the incredible experience of becoming a believer.”
She continued, “This Palm Sunday marks two years since I started my faith journey, and I’m forever grateful!”
Last month, McKellar celebrated Easter with her loved ones. On Instagram, she shared pictures of herself with family at church.
She said:
