Danica McKellar Encourages Setting ‘Little, Attainable Goals’ in 2024

By Movieguide® Contributor

Danica McKellar is encouraging people to look at their New Year’s resolutions in a different way.

“New year, fresh start: what’s it going to be?” she asked viewers in a video for Great American Community.

McKellar explained, “We come up with these resolutions…[that are] maybe slightly unrealistic. I propose something different. Instead of New Year’s resolutions, how about a new month’s baby step towards some other big goal?”

“I highly recommend you say, ‘Okay, what’s my baby step for this month?’” she said.

The WONDER YEARS star shared that this method has worked for her in the past, whether it was with her 2023 goal to read the Bible or when she sits down to write a book.

“It’s really about little, attainable goals, and they make a big difference,” McKellar said.

The actress also shared one of her own New Year’s resolutions: to reread the Bible.

McKellar has often spoken about her Bible-reading journey this past year.

“I’m reading the Bible all the way through this year. That is my goal, and it’s happening,” she told PureFlix. “I also listen to the Bible on my phone. It’s so great. I do it when I’m putting my makeup on or folding laundry or whatever. So it happens. My life can’t get too busy to do it because I get to listen to it while I’m doing things that I would be doing anyway. And it’s just wonderful.”

Movieguide® previously reported on McKellar’s reading goal:

Great American Family star Danica McKellar recently revealed a new way she’s approaching her goal of reading through the Bible in a year.

In a new episode of FAITH BITS on Great American Community, McKellar shared that she’s listening through the Bible.

“It’s very enriching and motivating,” McKellar states. “I love the combination. Oftentimes, I’ll go back and read what I’ve listened to.”

McKellar said that listening to God’s word helps her stay on track despite some days where she is unsure if she will have time to read.

“I know I will always have time to listen to it,” she explained.

Another way McKellar celebrated the beginning of a new year was with a chilly swim in the ocean.

“Just took a dip in the ocean. It is cold, but felt so good and refreshing, and [it was] a great way to ring in the New Year,” McKellar said in an Instagram video. “You know what? I’ve been really cozy for a lot of this break and I decided that cozy is overrated.”

She encouraged her followers to “jump in that cold ocean” as well, adding a sticker of Rosie the Riveter on the clip that read, “We Can Do It.”
