Christian singer Danny Gokey recently encouraged his fans going through difficult times to trust God’s faithfulness.
“The pain you’re facing is not pointless,” he encouraged on Instagram. “I know it feels heavy, it’s unfair, it’s endless…Can I remind you that God is doing something eternal through your temporary moments of struggle?”
Gokey then gave several examples of people in the Bible who God was faithful to, even though it didn’t seem like it amid their trials.
“Think about Job, how he lost everything, his children, his health, all his money, his livelihood, even his wife came up to him, gave up all hope, and said, ‘Why don’t you just curse God and die,’” the AMERICAN IDOL alum explained. “But Job held onto God, and in the end, God restored him double because Job’s pain had a purpose. His story became proof that even when life is unfair, God is still faithful.”
The singer also mentioned the story of Joseph, who went through a really difficult time but in the end saw God’s promise come to pass.
Gokey said, “Joseph, betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, forgotten in prison, lied about him…It looked like God had completely abandoned him in that moment, but the pit wasn’t the end.”
He explained, “He stood face to face with the ones who hurt him, his brothers who sold him. He didn’t seek revenge. He chose forgiveness, not because they deserved it, but because he was free. He saw God in his moments of suffering.”
This story is found in Genesis 50:20-21, where Joseph says, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.”
Gokey continued, “Our trial today is training ground for tomorrow, and you’re going have a testimony that’s going heal people. Your scars will still speak, and your story will still heal and your destiny, listen, it’s still in motion.”
The singer experienced this first hand following his first wife’s death.
“I’ve been through some seasons where God has put me through some intense trials,” Gokey told K-LOVE, “but I’m going to tell you this: It’s all to refine my character so that when He does give the provision, He does give the blessing, He does give the ministry, I remember that it’s because it’s God’s will — not mine — and this is something that I’m able to steward.”
Though he mourned the death of his wife, God helped him find love again and continues to use his story to bless others.

“God is not done with you yet,” Gokey closed his Instagram encouragement. “The Bible says that these light, momentary afflictions are achieving a greater glory in it. So let go and let them finish what He started.”
People in the comment section were grateful for Gokey’s message.
“Everything we go through, we give thanks to our lord and savior. Nothing passes by without a reason for God’s plan!” one user said. Another person added, “Thank you! I needed this today!”
No matter what you’re going through, God will be faithful and use your pain for a purpose.
