FBI: INTERNATIONAL has come to an end following a high-stakes finale that wrapped up four seasons.
“In Gaijin, [Jesse Lee] Soffer’s FBI: INTERNATIONAL character Wes Mitchell is in Tokyo, where Heather Washburn, an American woman, has disappeared, following her hosting job the night prior. She is the sixth American woman to disappear without a trace in Japan,” a synopsis of the episode reads.
The episode follows the team as they search and receive tips before eventually finding the woman injured but alive.
Soffer, who joined the show this season, thanked fans for their support.
“What a year,” he began an Instagram post. “What a journey. 6000 miles away. Over 25,000 miles traveled. New friends. Old friends. Loss. Love. Immense focus. Deep appreciation for the lessons that come with putting all of your energy towards a project. So much growth. I’m very grateful. Thank you for going on the journey with me. 💙 #fbiinternational”
Fans in the comment section showed love for Soffer and the show. “So disappointed this show was cancelled. I will miss the show and watching you lead the team,” one user said. Another person added, “Way to go, Jesse! 👏🏻 Truly enjoyed ‘being along for the ride’ of watching you as a series lead. You totally nailed it!”

In addition to FBI: INTERNATIONAL, CBS canceled FBI: MOST WANTED.
“Ultimately those deals and the shows just weren’t penciling out for us for an economic perspective. It’s never easy to end shows, and we had a lot of options this year,” Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment, told Deadline of the cancelations.
She added, “We always have to look at all of our shows, look at the aggregate information. The creative, where they are in their life cycle, what the finances look like, what the ratings are — and we make those tough decisions.”
In March, FBI actor Zeeko Zaki said that despite the cancelations, he is still hopeful for the franchise’s future.
“Maybe there will be opportunities for me to work with all of them in the future. Their worlds will stay alive regardless of the shows,” he said, adding, “I would’ve loved to do a few more crossovers and get to work with the entirety of the cast and stuff like that, so I’m a little sad about that. I’ve always been jealous of our INTERNATIONAL cast and crew that get to film over in Europe. But we’ll see. Who knows?”
CBS will produce a new FBI offshoot called CIA for the 2025-2026 season. Few details have been announced, but Tom Ellis will star while Eriq La Salle will direct and executive produce the first episode.
