FULL HOUSE star Scott Weinger is sharing his memories of his start on the show.
“I wasn’t on FULL HOUSE probably until Season 5, and then I joined as a series regular in Season 6,” he said during an episode of “FULL HOUSE Rewind.” “So, I was the new guy, and I was very conscious of it, but you guys were so gracious and made me feel very welcome.”
Weinger, who played Steve Hale on the show, continued, “I laughed all day, every day, on that job. I mean, that’s all we did.”
“You were definitely part of the team from day one. You just fit in,” host Dave Coulier added.
Weinger was especially close with Candace Cameron Bure, who played his onscreen love interest. The pair even attended her high school prom together.
In a birthday post for Weinger, Bure wrote, “To say how much I love and adore you would be an understatement. Here’s to 26 years of friendship and laughter and many many more.”
Movieguide® previously reported on how close the FULL HOUSE cast is:
Lori Loughlin is opening up about her relationships with the FULL HOUSE cast.
“I remember calling my mother…and saying, ‘I don’t know if this show’s going to make it or not, but I have a feeling if it does, I’m going to be on it for the duration,’” she recalled, adding, “Dave, I will never forget you saying, ‘I think Lori’s going to be with us for a long time.’”
The actress quickly bonded with the rest of the cast, saying, “The first week that I was there, working on the show — at the end of the week, my stomach was really sore…and I realized, ‘Oh, my gosh, just from laughing!’ I had been laughing so hard all week, you guys were so funny.”
“We had truly so much of life together,” Loughlin concluded. “We really are a family…just a full cycle of life and just always there for each other and you know, honestly, I couldn’t love you, John, Candace, Jody, Andrea, Scott — couldn’t love you more than I do.”
Elsewhere in the podcast, Weinger also shared how he got into acting, saying, “I had to beg my parents…I begged my parents to help me find out how to get into professional acting.”
Weinger’s mother happened to play tennis with a woman whose child modeled, and she helped Weinger get his first audition. While his mom prepped him to expect not to get it, Weinger did.
“I was convinced that show business was super easy after that,” he joked.
Weinger recently reflected on another one of his iconic roles. At 15, he played Aladdin in Disney’s ALADDIN, alongside the late Robin Williams.
“All I can say is that he was a one-of-a-kind person. He was somebody that I was very fortunate to meet,” Weinger told PEOPLE of his co-star. “People ask me all the time, they talk about it like he was this mystical figure, that I was able to meet him and work with him. He’s like an old Hollywood legend now. The only word I can say to really describe it is that I was very privileged to have an opportunity, to be in his orbit for a little while and to be associated with him forever thanks to this movie.”
