Alexa PenaVega experienced the worst pain a parent can feel — the death of a child — but God comforted her in a very personal way.
PenaVega and husband Carlos’ fourth child, daughter Indy, was stillborn in April 2024, but amid their grief, God was there.
“…I closed my eyes, and the Lord gave me this insane vision,” PenaVega said in a video for Streams Studio. “I was laying in the bed, and Indy was next to me, and they were trying to resuscitate her. The room was filled with angels around every single person in the room. But Indy was in God’s arms, but she was alive in His arms. Even though she was no longer living next to me, she was alive in His arms.”
The actress explained how in her vision, God and the angels were weeping for her.
“It gave me a whole new perspective of God, of where, when we weep, He weeps because He’s heartbroken for his children. Even though He knew she was fully alive with Him and great and happy, He wept for us. And I felt so seen in that moment.”
Last month, PenaVega shared more about the impact Indy’s short time on earth had.
“This was the most painful moment I have ever experienced. I remember it feeling so hard to breathe. Such a deep aching pain… How was this real? It didn’t feel real. Every emotion flooded in at once,” she wrote in the caption.
She explained that despite the severe pain she felt, God gave her “super-natural peace” in that moment.
“He took the weight off of us and draped us in His peace,” she explained. “Over this last year we have watched LIFE come out of her life.”
PenaVega explained that Indy’s story has helped others to heal from their own personal grief.
“While we still mourn and wish we had her in our arms…we know she is waiting for us in a place that is beyond anything we can imagine.”

She concluded the post with Jeremiah 29:11, which says “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
Last month, on what would have been Indy’s first birthday, PenaVega took to Instagram to celebrate. She shared a photo of her three children holding a photo of Indy.
“Happy heavenly birthday Indy girl. 🤍Our little world changer,” she said in the caption.
Indy’s story is a reminder that in times of our deepest trouble and grief, God is present. He cares for us deeply and wants to walk us through our grief in a way that only He can.
