Matt Sallee of GRAMMY-Winning Pentatonix Opens Up About the Faith That Defines His Life

By: Allyson Vannatta, Contributing Writer

Pentatonix star Matt Sallee is giving all the glory to God for his music career.

In addition to his place in the a cappella group, Sallee is a member of the worship band Expressions 58, based out of the church of the same name.

Faith began early for Sallee, a pastor’s son, and has continued through his musical career.

“I was involved in youth ministry and in high school ministry — my walk with God was a constant and consistent, ” Sallee told The Christian Post.

However, his upbringing didn’t shield him from his own “crisis of faith.”

When Salle left his family for college, “I had a difficult three-and-a-half years feeling like I was doing everything on my own.”

Despite this crisis, Sallee continued to perform at different events and venues where he said he felt God’s presence around him.

“Even at my lowest point, I knew God was preparing me for something greater and wanted to use my talent for His glory,” Sallee said.

Sallee joined Pentatonix in 2017.

The popular group has won three Grammys and has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. He has been able to share his faith a different way since joining the secular group.

The singer said he feels God is breaking barriers in the industry; that celebrities can use their platforms to share their faith with others.

“I just constantly remember where it all comes from. I know the point. The point isn’t to be praised, it’s to point people to Him,” Sallee said. “With that mindset always, I enjoy what’s happening and I get to experience these incredible things while knowing there’s a greater purpose.”
