Hallow Is First Religious App to Hit #1 On Apple’s App Store

Prayer app Hallow has just topped Apple’s app chart.

“#1 in the App Store!! Glory Be – He is #1,” the prayer app posted on Instagram. “We are overjoyed with how powerful Day 1 of Lent Pray40 was. Not only did over 1 million people join the challenge and start a transformational prayer journey yesterday, Hallow also became the first religious app to ever reach the top of the App Store Charts!”

The company also included a slide that compared their number of employees to the other Top Three apps — Temu and Threads have thousands of workers, while Hallow has just 85.

“We are so grateful for the dedication of all our team members at Hallow to help people all over the world pray,” the post concluded.

Much of this success can be attributed to Hallow’s recent Super Bowl commercial.

Movieguide® previously reported on the commercial:

Christian prayer app Hallow will feature in this year’s Super Bowl with the company’s first-ever Super Bowl commercial.

“The goal at Hallow has always been to reach out to as many folks as possible, both those who take their faith seriously and especially those who might have fallen away — and invite them deeper into a relationship with God,” Hallow co-founder and CEO Alex Jones said

The ad features actors Mark Wahlberg and THE CHOSEN’s Jonathan Roumie. A teaser video shows Wahlberg saying, “God, we take this moment just to give You thanks.”

CEO Alex Jones told the Catholic News Agency that, immediately following the airing of the ad, Hallow had “the most downloads in a single minute we’d ever seen.”

“We’ve been blown away by the responses to the spot,” he continued. “We’ve heard from many who were inspired to join us and give prayer a try for the first time in a long time this Lent.”

Jones spoke about his hopes for the ad’s impact before the Super Bowl in an interview with the National Catholic Reporter.

“Our hope is that it reaches out to someone who maybe hasn’t prayed in a long time, that it might just allow someone somewhere an opportunity to let God into their hearts for the first time,” he said. “If we can reach out to just one person like that, someone in a tough place, someone lost — and help them to begin a journey back to God, then yes, it will have been worth it.”
