Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was just named the NFL Rookie of the Year, and like always, he gave God the glory.
“First and foremost, I just want to give all glory and praise to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” Stroud said as the crowd applauded.
He continued, “I want to thank the Texans organization all the way to McNair’s, Nick Caserio, DeMeco Ryans. You all trusted in me by drafting me number two, and I appreciate that.”
“Secondly, I want to thank my family: my mother, my father, my brother, my sister,” he added. “You all have been my rock since I’ve been a kid.”
Stroud concluded his speech by encouraging any young athletes watching.
“This honor means a lot. And to whatever kid that’s out here watching, you can do anything you put your mind to,” he said. “I’m a living testimony to perseverance and just trusting your goals and your dreams. I just thank God for this.”
This week, Stroud made his first appearance in the NFL Pro Bowl. He’s the first Ohio State Buckeye quarterback to earn a Pro Bowl appearance.
“Stroud was arguably the most impressive player Sunday at Camping World Stadium, where the AFC won the flag football game 50-34. He threw for a game-high 173 yards and two touchdowns, including a highlight off-balanced touchdown pass to Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase during the second quarter,” Sports Illustrated reported.
“It’s been amazing being around great players,” Stroud said of his time at the Pro Bowl. “Just try to get to know people. Had a good time here, and hopefully it’s the first of many.”

The Houston Texans rookie quarterback CJ Stroud thanked God for the opportunity for his team to go to the playoffs.
On Saturday night, the Texans claimed a 23-19 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, securing a spot in the playoffs.
“Man, it’s a blessing. I can’t do nothing but thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” Stroud said, becoming emotional.
“I put a lot of work in, my team has. Everybody counted us out from the start, so it’s just special to see the city of Houston just on the come-up again,” he continued. “I’m just blessed enough to be the vessel that Christ picked to lead this great franchise. So, I can do nothing but just thank the Lord.”
