Is Mark Zuckerberg Right About Masculine Energy?

By Movieguide® Contributor

This week, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said corporations need to reintroduce masculine energy; what did he mean by this and was he right in saying so?

“A lot of our society has become very…neutered or emasculated,” Zuckerberg told the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, per Mashable. “Masculine energy is good, and obviously, society has plenty of it, but I think corporate culture was really trying to get away from it. I think having a culture that celebrates the aggression a bit more has its own merits that are really positive.”

“It’s one thing to say we want to be welcoming and make a good environment for everyone, and I think it’s another to basically say that masculinity is bad,” he continued. “And I think we swung, culturally, to that part of the spectrum where [people think] masculinity is toxic [and] we have to get rid of it completely. It’s like, no. Both of these things are good.”

These comments from Zuckerberg come as he de-liberalizes his company on the eve of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. In the past weeks, Zuckerberg has reversed years of policy, removing fact-checking from Facebook and Instagram while trying to cozy up to Trump through multi-million dollar donations.

While Zuckerberg’s changes may ultimately be a good thing, his comments about masculine energy reveal that he has a misunderstanding of what it means to be a man. The Bible is clear that men are supposed to be the pillars of both their families and communities. This requires them to step up when necessary and even be aggressive when those in their care are threatened, but primarily, men are called to fight for justice, walk humbly with the Lord and stand firm for those they love.

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” says Micah 6:8.

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong,” adds 1 Corinthians 16:13-14. “Let all that you do be done in love.”

Ironically, Zuckerberg is right that corporations would benefit from more masculine energy, as they would focus more on serving their customers and treating them with dignity rather than placing greed and money above all else.

Unfortunately, many Americans do not understand what it means to be a strong man, as they did not have father figures in their life to teach them how to act.
