Social media influencer Lindsey Gurk uses her platform to share about Jesus and what He has done in her life, recently opening up about how she got there on Sadie Robertson Huff’s “Whoa That’s Good” podcast.
“My faith journey as well started in 2020 when my daughter was born because I knew I couldn’t do it alone and I needed help, and he was my help,” Gurk explained.
The influencer had, however, experienced God in her younger years, although her relationship with Him was rocky.
“I grew up going to church, and I think I was almost starting in high school, like I was starting to learn what trusting in Jesus meant, but I didn’t know. And then I was for real wandering in the desert for over a decade, and I felt stuck,” she admitted.
She didn’t understand that God desired a deep relationship with her.
“I did not know what trusting in Jesus looked like,” she said. “I did not know that I could have the relationship that I have with Him. I didn’t know that He wanted to hear from me all the time. I thought I was going to be a burden to Him.”
But when Gurk’s mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer for the second time, she reached out to God, and He met her.
“I got up and opened my dusty Bible, it was like in my sock drawer for I don’t know how many years,” she explained. A verse she read touched her, and she asked her husband to go to church the next day.
Since then, Gurk has been vulnerable about how God has worked in her life. In fact, sharing about God on social media first began when He miraculously healed her from a condition called PMDD.
PMDD, also known as Premenstrual dysphoric disorder, is described as “a much more severe form of premenstrual syndrome.” It can cause “Depressed mood, sadness, hopelessness, or feelings of worthlessness, Increased anxiety, tension, or the feeling of being on edge all the time,” along with many other concerning symptoms.
Gurk shared that experience with her followers.
“I think the first big moment that I shared was when I shared what He had done for me on the bathroom floor,” she told Huff.

Now that she has a large following (2.1 million followers on Instagram), the influencer says that she prays and checks her heart before posting something online.
“I really wanted to check myself,” she said. “I did not want to use experiences with the Lord as a means to — because it is my business — I didn’t want to insert Him into my business just to gain likes or follows. So that’s something that I pray on, and if there’s something on my heart, it might take a few days or a few weeks to share.”
Gurk’s vulnerability, hilarious videos and conversations about faith and parenting are sure to keep her fans coming back.
