Rock Band Frontman Thanks Fans for Prayers Following Daughter’s Hospitalization

Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Johnny Van Zant is thanking fans for their prayers following his daughter Taylor’s hospitalization.
“I thank everyone so much for your concerns and sweet words since the news of my daughter came out,” he wrote in an Instagram caption. “I am also very grateful for the fans understanding in the canceling of shows so I could be with her. The past week has been a whirlwind of emotions but reading all your hopeful messages and comments really helped lift my spirits. Keep praying for Taylor during this time of transition.”
In the video Van Zant posted, he explained that Taylor has been diagnosed with a cavernomas, or cerebral cavernous malformation.
Cavernomas “are groups of tightly packed, irregular small blood vessels with thin walls,” per the Mayo Clinic, and “may leak blood and lead to bleeding in the brain or spinal cord,” causing a hemorrhage.
“Due to your prayer and the will of God, she is at our house now and resting,” Van Zant said in his video.
Fans have shared their relief that Taylor is recovering, filling Van Zant’s comment section with prayers and well-wishes.
“That was a long ride home from Alaska for you,” one fan wrote. “Glad your girl is home with you guys recovering. Wishing her a comfortable strong speedy recovery. Your Skynyrd fan base is all here for you and many prayers are being said around the world for Taylor you and Lisa. He’s hearing us all. God is good.”
Another commented, “What a wonderful thing you did as a father to put your own affairs aside for the moment and focus on her healing! Johnny, I think that one of the things that the Skynyrd Nation loves about you is that you always put family and friends first! We, the fans, understand that that should always be the priority.”
Lynyrd Skynyrd’s official Instagram account announced Taylor’s condition last week, informing fans that their Anchorage, Alaska concert would be canceled.
“This morning, Johnny Van Zant was informed his daughter must undergo emergency surgery,” their statement read. “Johnny has asked all fans to pray for a successful procedure and recovery.”
