This year’s Emmy Awards will have a different kind of host — none other than renowned family comedian, Nate Bargatze.
“It’s a huge honor to be asked to host such an iconic awards show and I’m beyond excited to work with CBS to create a night that can be enjoyed by families around the world,” Bargatze said.
“I’ve got to do just me in that world,” he added of hosting the award show on Sept. 14.
Bargatze himself is nominated for the Creative Arts Emmy for his Netflix special, YOUR FRIEND, NATE BARGATZE.

“I’m not making them come to me like I’m anybody special,” he insisted. “But I will definitely do what I do and try to get them into that rhythm, just because that’s my best chance of making the show great.”
Bargatze, said to be the world’s top comedian, has had several successful comedy specials, numerous sold-out shows and a successful podcast network, Nateland. He recently finished producing, writing and starring in his first film, THE BREADWINNER, which will release in theaters in spring 2026.
“I was someone who started standup before YouTube,” Bargatze told The Ankler. “I remember putting my videos on YouTube, and we couldn’t really fathom what YouTube was gonna be. So I still like the traditional route.”
“We have so many choices now, I think it’s overwhelming, so I feel like you’re gonna eventually just winnow down to kind of back to what TV was. I still love this system of Hollywood and the traditional route of the way they did it — I still think that can get done and that should be done,” he said.
The comic recently appeared on THE LATE SHOW and said he’s “nervous” to host the events.
“I’m just going to do what I do. I’m very self-deprecating and try and bring it inward. I know it’s a tough thing. You’re up for all of these awards, so I want everybody to have a good time and try and make it a lively moment. I’ll make fun of me,” Bargatze said.
“Nate is one of the hottest comics in the business with a remarkable and hilarious brand of comedy that deeply resonates with multi-generational audiences around the globe,” said Television Academy chair Cris Abrego. “We are thrilled to be able to leverage his one-of-a-kind perspective to entertain TV fans watching this year’s Emmy telecast.”
Bargatze is a pleasantly unusual pick to host the Emmys. He’s a Christian family man whose humor is appropriate for all ages — which can’t be said for some previous hosts. But Bargatze, of course, is wildly popular and is sure to be a hit with viewers of the ceremony.
