NBA Star Jonathan Isaac Declares ‘True Greatness Is Found In Christ’

NBA star Jonathan Isaac is sharing his views on the real meaning of “true greatness.”
“The world has defined greatness as accolades [and] statistics…but I believe that true greatness is found in Christ,” he said during an episode of Kirk Cameron’s “Takeaways.”
Isaac continued, “I want [Christians] to be encouraged that they are walking in true greatness. We’re walking in true greatness by sharing the gospel.”
The basketball player also spoke about figuring out the difference between following your own desires and listening to God’s voice.
“So many times, we want to do things, and it’s all about us becoming great…but I believe a lot of things that are truly from God take sacrifice,” he explained. “I try my best to just allow God to lead me.”
Isaac frequently talks about his faith and how it has helped him overcome anxiety and navigate his career.
“[Faith] taught me to find my identity in God rather than in basketball,” the Orlando Magic player told Religion Unplugged. “The root of my anxiety was caring about others’ opinions and solely identifying myself through basketball. When I played well, I felt like a good person, but if I played poorly, I didn’t. Having a foundational relationship with Jesus has helped me learn to confront the lies of the enemy and find my identity in Him.”
Isaac has also launched an athletic apparel brand that promotes faith and patriotism.
“When we do give our money to companies that don’t support our values, we’re cosigning their message,” he told Fox News. “So, what I wanted to do was give Americans, freedom-loving Americans, faith-loving Americans the option to buy with their values.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Isaac’s brand, UNITUS:
Orlando Magic star Jonathan Isaac released his new clothing brand UNITUS, which celebrates faith, family and freedom.
Isaac shared a photo of himself in a UNITUS hoodie on Instagram, saying, “Celebrating our values the way they deserve to be.”
“I do see this as something that is bigger than me. And so, for that, I have to give glory and honor to Jesus Christ,” Isaac said at the launch.
“The name UNITUS actually came from Dr. Hepburn,” Isaac said before explaining that in 2020, he was signed by Nike, but after suffering an injury, he was not re-signed to the brand. Hepburn encouraged him to start a sneaker company, which “blossomed” into a brand to “give people the freedom to buy with their values,” The Daily Wire reported.
