George Floyd’s Brother Calls for End to Riots: ‘My Family Is God-Fearing’

George Floyd’s brother Terrence Floyd declared that his family fears God in the wake of mourning his brother’s death at the hands of a police officer.

“My family is a peaceful family,” said Floyd. “My family is God-fearing. Yeah, we’re upset. But, we’re not gonna take it; we’re not gonna be repetitious.”

Floyd delivered a chilling speech at a peaceful vigil in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the exact location where his brother died.

“I doubt y’all are half as upset as I am,” Floyd said.

Floyd called for a solution that doesn’t involve looting or damage to communities across the country.

“So, if I’m not over here wildin’ out, if I’m not over here blowing up stuff, if not over here messing up my community, then what are y’all doing?” said Floyd.

Floyd offered a different way to fight the system.

“Educate yourself and know who you’re voting for,” said Floyd.

Before ending his speech, Floyd led a chant that called for both peace and justice.

People reported that just before his speech, Terrence appeared on Good Morning America, speaking to Robin Roberts to decry the violence and looting, noting that it is “overshadowing what’s going on.”

Terrence reiterated that his brother “was about peace, he was about unity. But, the thing’s that’s transpiring now, yeah they may call it unity, but it’s destructive unity. That’s not what my brother was about.”

George Floyd’s funeral will take place on Thursday June 4, 2020, in Houston, TX.
