Singer Micah Tyler Writes New Book: ‘This is a Jesus help book’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Singer Micah Tyler, wrote his debut devotional book called, WALKING FREE: TAKING SMALL STEPS TO A BIG GOD.

In the book, Tyler aimed to encourage his readers to take steps away from the world and take steps toward the good things that God has to offer including the knowledge of knowing Jesus deeper.

“This is a Jesus help book,” Tyler stated. “This is not a me having everything figured out, me being on the other side of the finish line and looking back at everyone, saying ‘OK, I figured it all out. Here’s exactly how we do it.’” It’s me saying, ‘Hey, if I’m going to be in the trenches and you’re going to be in the trenches, why don’t we walk together? Why don’t we take these steps measured together and do it in a realistic, practical way?’”

Tyler stated in an interview with K-LOVE, in reference to his book, “…at the end of the day that’s the best that I could possibly offer anyway. It’s just to be like, ‘Hey, let me tell you about the best person I know.’ I fall short all the time.”

Tyler went on to say his main motivation for the book is that no matter where anyone is in life, no matter what they have walked through, anyone who has breathe has a purpose therefore everyone is “qualified to read the book.”

“There is still freedom to be found in Jesus. So, as He has taught my heart things, I’m like, ‘This is just too good for me not to share,’” Tyler addressed.

The book is a six-week devotional comprised of six steps. When asked about his favorite step Tyler had trouble but then narrowed it down.

“But think about the Sower for a second. Think about him just throwing seeds everywhere. Like he’s walking down the streets of New York City tossing seed because at the end of the day whether it hits a sidewalk, whether it hits Granite, whether it hits the freshest dirt in whole wide world, he’s not worried about can the dirt handle it. He’s saying, ‘I just want to see something grow.’ What I want people to understand is that it is a step forward with Jesus,” Micah concluded.
