Tennessee Churches Unite for ‘Beyond Our Walls’ Worship Service
By Allyson Vannatta, Senior Writer
Churches in Tennessee planned a massive drive-in worship service to help raise money for a local food pantry.
On Sunday, 15 churches came together for the event Beyond Our Walls.
Grace Chapel Church hosted the drive-in service, which featured Christian musician Francesca Battistelli. The singer opened the event singing Bethel Music’s song “Raise A Hallelujah” and her own song “Holy Spirit.”
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee even made an appearance and said a few words.
“Thank you for everything that every one of you are doing,” Lee said. “Thank you for doing your part to stay apart. Thank you for loving your neighbors as yourself. Thank you for serving in food banks, and thank you for serving in nonprofits. And thank you for serving in your neighborhoods.”
He continued, “Thank you for praying. Thank you for having hope. In this world, we’ll have many troubles, but we know where our hope comes from and He has overcome the world. And we’ll do all we can that’s humanly possible. We thank you for praying that He will have favor on our state.”
The governor encouraged everyone to continue to pray and have faith in God’s protection.
Proceeds from Beyond Our Walls went to One Generation Away. One Generation Away is a food pantry that provides meals to families in Middle Tennessee.
The food pantry had to increase meal distribution because of the tornadoes that hit the area in early March. Now, they’ve had to increase distribution again to help fill gaps from those children who usually get meals from school.
Battistelli wasn’t the only familiar face at the event. I STILL BELIEVE’s Andy Erwin and his family attended the event from the safety of their car. The filmmaker shared some photos from the event on his Instagram.
