THE BLIND, the true story of how DUCK DYNASTY’s Phil Robertson found faith, will return to theaters beginning Aug. 31 to honor the life and legacy of the late patriarch.
“Hey moviegoers, THE BLIND is returning to theaters for a limited time starting Aug. 31st,” Korie Robertson, Phil’s daughter-in-law, said in a video announcement.
“In honor of the life and legacy of my father Phil Robertson and featuring an exclusive tribute from our family to yours,” Willie Robertson, Phil’s son and Korie’s husband, added.
“And help us honor a legacy built on faith, family and a whole lotta ducks,” Korie concluded.
Phil died earlier this year.
The movie sees Phil, long before he was a reality-TV star, fall “in love and start…a family, but his demons threatened to tear their lives apart. This is the true story that started a dynasty.”
THE BLIND Instagram account shared a few more details about the 2023 movie’s rerelease: “From August 31st to September 4th, audiences will have the chance to experience a powerful new tribute from @realjaseduckman, woven into Phil’s story: A life built on faith, family, and ducks… in that order. 🦆
“If Phil’s story has impacted your life, whether through Duckmen DVDs, DUCK DYNASTY, or his testimony, drop a comment below. His message has always been the same: use whatever spotlight you have to point people to Jesus,” the post concluded.
Fans chimed in reflecting on Phil’s impact.
“I am so unbelievably grateful that this movie was released the same year I got married because it honestly was like a blueprint on how the right woman and Jesus and God will set you on the strongest marriage and journey of your entire life and then some!” one person wrote.

Another fan added, “Amen! I am so thankful I got to learn about you guys, your faith filled family and Phil with his strong faith for God, spreading the Gospel with everything he had! God Bless you all! 💜🙏”
The movie had a profound impact on audiences when it first released, even inspiring spontaneous baptisms.
“I’m embarrassed by my past on one side, but on the other, I’m unashamed because my rotten sins have been bought and paid for by blood,” Phil told CBN’s Faithwire. “If THE BLIND brings one person to know the power of the blood of Jesus, it was worth it.”
A part of Movieguide®’s review reads:
THE BLIND refers to a duck blind where his friend, Al, and Phil Robertson are hunting in 1985. Phil tells Al his Christian testimony. The movie cuts to 1958 when Phil is a little boy. Phil’s father worked in the oil fields, away from home for long periods. As a youngster, Phil goes hunting and fishing to bring food home for his family. Phil’s mother has psychotic experiences where she just gets angry at everything and is hauled off by police several times. Phil’s only blessing is Kay. They know in high school they’re destined for each other. Phil gives up a football scholarship to marry Kay. His excessive drinking leads to a downward spiral. Kay gives Phil an ultimatum, but can he change?
THE BLIND is a good movie as a Christian testimony. That said, it doesn’t follow the rules of filmmaking. So, it may not win a big audience. The movie is propelled by the jeopardy, and vice and drinking, but Jesus is extolled. THE BLIND is a rough movie. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution, especially for children and young teenagers.
As Phil’s legacy of faith lives on through THE BLIND, the rerelease will allow even more people to witness his incredible testimony.
