THE CHOSEN Producers Say ‘Everyone Brings Their Best’ to the Show
By Movieguide® Contributor
THE CHOSEN’s producers are opening up about what drew them to the show.
“What Dallas Jenkins has done with THE CHOSEN…that’s what got me really excited and that’s what moves me, more than anything,” supervising producer Mark Sourian explained in an interview with Movieguide®.
Sourian added that his most important role is to see THE CHOSEN through its shift from a crowdfunded project to one of the year’s most successful shows.
“I’m adjusting things and giving some advice about how to adjust things to a much bigger scale than what was done in Seasons 1 and 2,” he said. “Now, we’re a much bigger production, and so it’s really just an adjustment.”
The larger scale hasn’t changed the heart of the show, though.
Brad Pelo, THE CHOSEN’s executive producer, said, “Everyone brings their best to the table with no expectation that it’s anything but just their offering. Each season, we see that miraculously again and again.”
Jenkins, the show’s creator, writer and director, spoke to CBS about THE CHOSEN’s beginnings, saying the money he initially raised showed him it was “bigger than me.”
“I don’t think I’ll ever feel like an official member of Hollywood, but it is great to partner with Hollywood companies on what they do best,” he said in an interview with Deadline. “There are some things we do that they can’t do, and there are some codes that we’ve cracked that haven’t necessarily been cracked before.”
He continued, “We want to get into areas that we wouldn’t normally be able to go, service areas that Hollywood studios might not normally reach or audiences that they might not normally reach. When nitro meets glycerin, the best of both worlds combined! I love having my foot in both waters.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the upcoming fourth season of THE CHOSEN:
THE CHOSEN just dropped the official Season 4 trailer and announced that theatrical tickets for the upcoming season are now available.
“Clashing kingdoms. Rival rulers. The enemies of Jesus close in while His followers struggle to keep up, leaving Him to carry the burden alone. Threatened by the reality of Jesus’ growing influence, religious leaders do the unthinkable—ally with their Roman oppressors. As the seeds of betrayal are planted and opposition to Jesus’ message turns violent, He’s left with no alternative but demand his followers RISE UP,” a synopsis of Season 4 reads.
The trailer shows Jesus and his followers confronting new challenges as they move towards his coming crucifixion.
The eight-episode season will debut in theaters starting this February.
