THE FORGE Actress Celebrates This Biblical Truth

By Movieguide® Contributor

Priscilla Shirer knows that God is knocking on the doors of our hearts and just wants us to answer.

In a sermon video from TBN, THE FORGE, OVERCOMER and FIREPROOF actress shared this truth:

“The Holy Spirit of God lives on the inside of you and on the inside of me,” she began. “He says ‘To those who are already my bride, to those that have redeemed, to those that have accepted me as savior, I am still outside of your door, constantly knocking, inviting you to open up the door, to surrender more, to walk in step with me more fully, to hear my voice more completely, to be filled with my spirit more fully. He says, ‘I am always at the door inviting you, drawing you, calling you, if you’ll listen.”

God knocking on the door of our hearts is a principal found in scripture. Revelation 3:20 says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”

“The disappointments, that was him at the door. The discouragements, that was him at the door. The mountains, the joys, the triumphs, the good days, that was him at the door. The diagnosis you weren’t expecting, the difficulty in your finances, the struggle you have in that relationship, all of it was Jesus saying, ‘draw near to me and I will draw near to you.’”

James 4:8 explains that if we choose to come close to God, he will come close to us. It reads, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”’

Many people in the comment section expressed their gratitude, saying “amen” to Shirer’s message.

Shirer has emphasized the importance of studying God’s word throughout her ministry.

Movieguide previously reported on the “5 P’s” Shirer uses when studying the Bible:

“The first P? Position yourself to hear from God. ‘There is power in your positioning,’ she explained. ‘When you make that commitment to position yourself…the position of your heart needs to be in a frame of reference that is eager to hear and expects to hear the voice of God speaking.’ The next P — ‘Pour over the passage and paraphrase the major points,’ the OVERCOMER actress said. ‘When I say ‘pour,’ I mean to meditate on it. To read it, not just once, but twice. To read it in two or three different translations.’ Pull out the Spiritual principles,’ Shirer said next. ‘This is where I prayerfully look at those [verses], and I look to see what spiritual principles [are there]. What is it that the verse says [and now I’m asking] what does the verse mean?’ The fourth P is to pose the questions… Lastly, ‘Plan obedience and pin down the date. We plan for everything except honoring God. Whatever it is God’s asked you to do, make a plan,’ Shirer explained.”
