For the third week in a row, NIGHT AGENT sits in the top spot for most streamed drama.

The Netflix series had 1.52 billion minutes of viewing time February 3-9, and although viewership declined the following weeks, it remained in the number one spot. It leads SWEET MAGNOLIAS by almost half a billion viewing minutes.

A synopsis of the show says, “Low-level FBI agent Peter Sutherland works in the basement of the White House manning a phone that never rings – until the night it does, propelling him into a conspiracy that leads all the way to the Oval Office.”

THE RECRUIT features many positive elements for discerning viewers.

According to the Movieguide® review:

“The opener to Season 2 of THE NIGHT AGENT’s production values are exemplary, with continued conspiratorial tension, engaging storytelling and excellent cinematography. The worldview remains strongly biblical, moral, and patriotic as an honorable man joins the Night Action to serve his country. In the line of duty, he unexpectedly reconnects with the woman he loves. MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for adults; however, for some foul language and violence, and the story is expected to get darker before dawn.”

Despite its massive popularity, some Netflix users are angry, blaming it for the cancelation of another show, THE RECRUIT. The drama was canceled after only 2 seasons.

The show about a CIA lawyer dealing with international business began in 2022. The Times of India reported, “It’s fate was sealed after its second season aired in January 2025: The news came as a shock to many, especially considering the positive reception of the latest season. Fans have taken to social media to express frustration, blaming the decision on poor scheduling and comparisons with another Netflix spy thriller, Night Agent.”

Netflix would do well to remember that the shows that perform best are indeed the ones that incorporate moral values. When they try to deliver content with excessive violence, sex, language or drug use, they will force the majority of viewers to tune out.

The answer is simple: Keep the good, keep the views.
