Tim Tebow Shows How Parents Impact Children When They ‘Put God First’

In a new Instagram video, Tim Tebow asked his followers who are parents to consider how their priorities will impact their children.

“So when I think back on growing up, some of my best memories are lying in bed at night and having my mom and dad read different verses and devotionals to us,” the former football star said. “Or, I’d be waking up and seeing my dad at the head of the table reading his Bible, and we would all read it together. So many different moments and memories of how they put God’s calling on their lives, in our lives, first.”

He continued, “But what do you put first in your family? For your family? Does your job come first, or does the calling that God has for your family — for you, your wife, your kids. For you, your husband, your kids? What do you put first?”

“One of the greatest impacts of my life is how my parents put God first, and I haven’t always done that. But what an impact it had on me to see my parents do that,” Tebow finished.

In the caption, he wrote, “[My parents] were intentional about making time for me and for God, and that isn’t always easy to do. Parents, what do you put first? What do you show your kids?”

Tebow shared his own struggle with prioritizing faith during an appearance at Passion 2023.

“I think, in my life, my greatest passion so far in my life hasn’t been for Jesus. I’d say it’s honestly probably been for sports,” he admitted, adding that he has been “more willing to suffer for a game than I ever have for Jesus.”

“It doesn’t mean that I’m not passionate about Jesus. I am passionate about Jesus. I love Jesus. I’ve just been more passionate about a game,” he continued. “I spent more time watching film, studying, preparing for defense than I ever have studying Scripture.”

Tebow told the audience, “It doesn’t mean those things are wrong. Being passionate about sports isn’t wrong…being passionate about your job, your occupation, I would say it’s a good thing. But is it more than Jesus? Is it more than the call in your life? Is it more than hurting people? Or is it in its proper place?”

He also explored this sense of passion and purpose in his book, “Mission Possible One-Year Devotional: 365 Days of Inspiration for Pursuing Your God-Given Purpose.”

“The secret to a truly meaningful life doesn’t involve more comfort or ease. It requires a clear focus on who God made you to be and a proven guide to get you there,” he explained

Movieguide® previously reported on Tebow’s efforts to encourage people in their faith:

Football star Tim Tebow took to social media to share an encouraging message with his fans and followers.

Tebow posted a screenshot of one of his tweets that read, “God doesn’t call us to be average. Don’t settle because you’re afraid, because the pressure is too high or because you had a bad experience in the past. You are made for more than just getting by!”

He continued his inspiring message in the caption of his post, writing, “God wants to use you where you are with what you have. Not just in the future when you get to where you think you want to go, but now. Don’t wait until you feel equipped to live a life that counts!”
