WATCH: Dennis Quiad’s Prayer Will Bring You to Tears

By Movieguide® Contributor

After releasing a Christian album last year, Dennis Quaid has now released a musical version of the Lord’s Prayer with beautiful vocals and instrumentals.

The musical version of the prayer follows the words said by Jesus in Matthew 6:9-13: “Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread. And forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.”

The song is now available to listen to on Gaither Music TV.

While Quaid grew up in a strong Christian household, he fell away from his faith after finding success as an actor, turning to drugs, alcohol and women for joy. However, that life left him feeling empty and he eventually ended up in rehab for a drug addiction. Around that time, he reconnected with his childhood faith after being struck by Jesus’ words while rereading the Bible. In the thirty-plus years since, Quaid has allowed Jesus to transform his life.

Now, Quaid is looking to use his platform to honor God and point his fans towards the one who saved his life and gave it meaning.

“We’re all looking for the joy of life, and drugs give that to you and alcohol and whatever it is for anybody give that to you really quick,” Quaid told TBN last November. “Then they’re fun and then they’re fun with problems, and then they’re just problems after a while.”

To help people understand this gift and find gratitude in simply being alive, Quaid released a Gospel album last summer that focuses on the fact that we are all sinners and equally undeserving of grace, but God loves all of us anyway no matter how far gone we may feel like we are.

“[Our flaws are] what makes us human,” Quaid said in 2023. “We’re all human, we’re not perfect. And I think it actually turns people away from church and fellowship with people because then they’re embarrassed to talk about their weaknesses because their supposed to be perfect.”

“That’s the Good News that he came here to tell us about,” he continued. “Just give all that to me and in that it’s [a] way of experiencing heaven on earth. Right here the Kingdom of Heaven is spread out upon the earth upon man, but man doesn’t see it because he looks through it from a lens of sin. Having that wiped away gives you that inner feeling there’s the Holy Spirit right at work within you.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Quaid’s faith:

Dennis Quaid is sharing how his faith has seen him through all the seasons of his life.

“It has gotten me through hard times. It has gotten me through good times, too,” he told Fox News. “Good times and gratitude. I lean on God when it comes to the hard times as well. You know, we all need that. It’s something that gives me a lot of joy.”

He explained that, while raised a Christian, he turned away from his faith in later years and struggled with a cocaine addiction. After Quaid got clean, he reconnected with his Christian faith.

“[I] read the Bible again, cover to cover, and was really struck by the words of Jesus, and that’s where my personal relationship with Jesus started,” he explained. “That’s grown over the years.”

“It was the after. Getting clean all of that – that’s where the personal relationship started, and that really does fill up the hole. It’s a great way to live life,” he added.

Quaid explored that relationship in his recent album, “Fallen: A Gospel Record For Sinners.”
