What Country Star’s Daughter Learned from Recent Stint in Hollywood

Country star Trace Adkins’ daughter Mackenzie recently got a taste of fame on the show CLAIM TO FAME, but her road to getting there, according to her dad, exemplifies Hollywood as a whole.
Mackenzie was unsure about the casting process from the start when she was contacted by the show through social media. Furthermore, the back-and-forth process with producers along with long periods of no responses made her question if the show was even legit.
“I looked [the show] up, and I watched both seasons and I made sure it was a real show,” Mackenzie told Fox News Digital. “But I did, like, so many interviews, and I met so many different casting directors and…producers were calling me, telling me, ‘You’re in the top 25, you’re in the top 15, you’ve made the top couple; we’re not sure yet.’ So, I was like, I don’t want to get that excited, and then it not happen.”
Trace revealed that he had similar experiences when working in Hollywood where he was promised big things only for them not to materialize.
“I’m glad you’ve learned something. That’s the way you have to always deal with everything Hollywood,” Trace told Mackenzie. “Because, yeah, I’ve had so many things, and most of which I’ve forgotten about, but there have been so many, so many things in my career that were connected to Hollywood. And they never happened.”
“They tell you, ‘Oh, yeah, we’re going to do this. We’re going to do that, and it’s this is moving along,'” Trace added. “And then all of a sudden, one day you realize, well, I haven’t heard from those people in six months. And it just went away.”
Thankfully for Mackenzie, she was able to land a spot on the show and even made it to the final episode of the season.
“As the fans of @ClaimToFameABC now know… @MackenzieLynnAdkins is my daughter,” Trace posted. “I’m proud that you’re my daughter, Mackenzie. Congratulations on getting as far as you did. Love you.”
He’s thankful she had this experience so she can better know what to expect from Hollywood if she pursues that avenue in the future.
Along with Mackenzie, Trace is also dad to Tarah, Sarah, Brianna and Trinity.
“You’re in protection mode,” the singer said of being a girl dad. “I’ve often said with my girls, I’m working security and I’m working as a pack mule. I go to the mall with them and I carry the money and I carry all the stuff they buy, and I’m working double duty as working security.”
