The Buffalo Bills starting safety Damar Hamlin might not be a Buffalo Bill soon.

The Bills released an updated list of their free agents and Hamlin was among several new players on that list.

According to Athlon Sports, ESPN NFL insider Schefter reported that “Hamlin has changed agents, signing with Doug Hendrickson of Wasserman Sports ahead of free agency.”

“Damar is an outstanding young man,” Hendrickson said of his new star player. “We are excited to welcome him and his family, and look forward to navigating the incredible future he has ahead of him on and off the field.”

In 2023, Hamlin almost lost his life on the football field. While facing the Cincinnati Bengals, Hamlin suddenly went into cardiac arrest. As medical personnel and emergency response units tended to Hamlin, the entire stadium and fans across the nation paused and watched as Hamlin lay lifeless on the field.

Hamlin would go on to make a full recovery and earn his starting spot back in the late 2024 season.

Ever since that night, Hamlin has partnered with several organizations to provide awareness and necessary equipment to prevent the next athlete from experiencing what Hamlin did.

Hamlin’s recent partnership was with Spencer Davis, another athlete who went into cardiac arrest while ont he field.

“Spencer’s coaches acted fast, and now he’s sharing his journey,” Hamlin shared on social media. “Stories like Spencer’s are why I go so hard to spread the word: sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere. But when AEDs are close, lives are saved.”

In December 2024, the US Senate passed the Cardiomyopathy Health Education, Awareness, Research and Training in Schools Act (HEARTS Act).

The Act “will fund CPR training and the availability of AEDs. Hamlin himself has advocated for the bill and worked with U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer to help the bill become law,” Pro Football Talk reported.

“Since experiencing cardiac arrest, I’ve been honored to work with partners who understand how important it is to provide CPR education and have access to AEDs to save lives,” Hamlin explained. “I’m very grateful to Senator Schumer for his work making his common-sense legislation a priority. My journey has shown us that no one expects cardiac arrest to happen- and we all need to be prepared.”
