Why Melissa Joan Hart Teaches Sons to Share Jesus’ Love

Former SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH star Melissa Joan Hart puts faith first when showing her three sons, Mason, Braydon and Tucker, how to serve others.

“Of course, when you have children, you want to give them everything,” Hart told Fox News Digital. “For lack of a better word, you want to spoil [them]. Like you want them to have every day be Disneyland, right?”

“It’s hard to make sure you’re teaching them…how to grow up with the right amount of struggles…There are so many worries and things that, of course, are plaguing our world right now,” she added. “But I just think if you show them love, even if you don’t have all the things, right? If you just show your kids love, I’ve come to this conclusion, it starts with that. If you teach your kids love, you show them that they are loved and supported, they will share that with the rest of the world. And that’s all we need right now.”

One way Hart teaches her kids to be selfless is through her partnership with World Vision.

“I think this is so important for our boys to see the work that World Vision does, to see that there are other parts of the world that are struggling, other parts of the world that are able to be developed and enriched and that that we can do so much good with our time, our energy, our money, to be able to help out people in need so far away,” she said after a family trip to Zambia. “I think it’s crucial to show our kids good charitable works.”

Whether serving others abroad or at home in Tennessee, Hart emphasized that her outreach comes from her faith: “We’re Christian. And so we are shown love through Jesus, and then we share that love.”

“Wherever we can, helping out and just teaching [her kids] not to be spoiled is very tricky,” she said. “It is very tricky. But it is, you know, something we strive for every day.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Hart:

Actress Melissa Joan Hart, a lifelong Christian, is opening up about her faith journey and how she combats spiritual warfare.

Hart was raised Catholic and, after marrying her Baptist husband Mark Wilkerson, the couple decided to become Presbyterians. Now, she lives in Nashville, where her children attend a Christian school.

“I’m a Christian, I believe that Jesus is my savior,” she declared in an interview. “I believe in God and I believe in Jesus as His son.”

Hart admitted that she sometimes struggles with doubt in her faith, but “then I close my eyes and tap into the Holy Spirit and let Him speak to me. And you feel that warmth and you feel that change.”
