The season 19 premiere of HEARTLAND is a beautiful, heartwarming episode that emphasizes putting your priorities in order and learning from mistakes. It celebrates family and having hope during difficult times. The show does a great job of employing dynamic camera angles and beautiful cinematography, as well as location scouting. All the outdoor shots are amazing to behold.
The horse-riding training also merits mention here, because all of the actors who ride a horse in this episode definitely know what they are doing. The trainer taught them well, and they took the job seriously. Speaking of horses, whoever oversaw the horse training itself to make sure that the horses behaved accordingly deserves to be praised, especially whoever had to take care of a pregnant horse. Did they make the horse look pregnant, or was the horse already that way? That horse did a great job “acting.”
The series also contains impressive direction, dialogue, and acting. Every interaction feels natural and real, which will surprise viewers who are not used to seeing this in a faith-based TV show. Not a single actor overdoes it in the acting department. Plus, there is a sweet romance happening at the center that people can root for. It is refreshing to see a man and a woman in a relationship who support each other and share the same values. The director and the writer did a great job showcasing the actor’s talents while making a storyline that makes sense.
The special effects are well done for the most part. A few of the fire scenes look realistic, except for one. A character attempts to put out a fire during one scene, and it is noticeable that it does not look completely authentic. However, this does not detract from the overall entertaining experience. Parents and children will enjoy this because of the role models of family and teamwork that are highlighted.
