SILENT HILL: REVELATION 3D

What You Need To Know:

SILENT HILL: REVELATION is a mediocre, confusing horror movie. The movie begins with a teenager, Heather, and her adoptive father, Harry, starting life anew in another town. Heather is turning 18 but has suffered from nightmares since she was a child. Heather and her father are on the run from demonic forces her father hasn’t explained to her. Apparently, they have something to do with a sinister pagan cult from an abandoned coal town called Silent Hill. The cult kidnaps Heather’s father and invites Heather to Silent Hill. With help from her new friend, Vincent, Heather goes to Silent Hill to rescue her father. More demonic nightmares await them there.

The story in SILENT HILL: REVELATION is too murky and unbelievable. Though the demonic force isn’t defeated, Heather escapes the demonized town at the end. Thus, SILENT HILL: REVELATION does have a happy ending of sorts. Until then, however, viewers are bombarded by dark, gruesome, ultraviolent, and scary demonic images that don’t make much sense. SILENT HILL: REVELATION also has some strong foul language and a scene with explicit nudity.

Content:

(B, OO, LL, NN, MM) Light moral worldview about escaping demonic forces, with positive and negative depictions of family; 11 obscenities (several “f” words), one strong profanity, two light profanities; scary ultra-violence includes nightmares showing people burned alive, man’s flesh is skinned and cooked in a frying pan, man’s fingers lopped off, deformed human faces, faceless nurses stab victims and attack two other potential victims, nude woman turned into a mannequin, children eating hamburgers at a mall start to look like they might be eating bloody parts of humans, arms of prisoners copped off, demonic woman’s head cut off, ; no sex but light teenage kiss; upper female nudity in one scene, shots of female cleavage, and upper male nudity; no alcohol; no smoking or drugs; and, lying, subterfuge, pagan idolatry by some villains with murky motives, people institutionalized against their will, kidnapping, attempted human sacrifice.

More Detail:

SILENT HILL: REVELATION is a mediocre, confusing horror movie sequel about a town controlled by demonic forces. The plot has a “happy” ending of sorts but is otherwise depressing and painful to watch.

The movie begins with a teenager, Heather, and her adoptive father, Harry, starting life anew in another town. Heather is about to turn 18 but has suffered from nightmares since she was a child. Heather and her father are on the run from demonic forces her father hasn’t explained to her. Apparently, they have something to do with a sinister pagan cult from an abandoned coal town called Silent Hill.

The cult kidnaps Heather’s father and invites her to Silent Hill. With help from her new friend, Vincent, Heather goes to Silent Hill to rescue her father. More demonic nightmares await them there.

It turns out [SPOILER ALERT] that the pagan cult’s activities unleashed a demonic force that took control of Silent Hill. Somehow, the demon has possessed Heather’s biological mother. The plot gets incredibly murky after that revelation, however.

Ultimately, though the demonic force isn’t defeated, Heather escapes the demonized town at the end. Thus, SILENT HILL: REVELATION does have a happy ending of sorts. Until then, however, viewers are bombarded by dark, gruesome, ultraviolent, and scary images that don’t make much sense. SILENT HILL: REVELATION also has some strong foul language and a scene with explicit nudity.
