More Detail:

In the second episode of THE MESSENGERS, “Strange Magic,” the five individuals providentially converge at a hospital chapel. At the chapel, a woman, Rosa, who just woke up from a coma, reveals that they’re all angels of the apocalypse. A few of them accept this new calling, but Vera, an atheist, doesn’t believe any of it. The now six individuals go their separate ways only to be divinely brought back together because they can’t escape their new calling.

“Strange Magic” is a much better episode than the pilot episode and sets the characters on their mission with some much needed plot details. The Christian content is also much stronger in this episode, though not without some problems. The episode’s premise acknowledges the Christian God, prophecy and His righteous anger, but it’s not exclusively Christian. For example, there’s an obvious statement that the God talked about is the God of all religions. Thus, even though the episode is mostly explicitly Christian, this politically correct statement weakens the show’s credibility. That said, the episode takes some unexpected turns with strong statements of faith. However, the “Strange Magic” episode warrants some caution because of the politically correct comments plus some foul language and sudden but brief violence.
