More Detail:

PROFILE is based on a true story of Amy, a British journalist who risks her life to expose an Islamic sex-trafficking recruiter in Syria, using social media, but the recruiter is so charming, insidious and manipulative that Amy may not be strong enough to avoid his snares. PROFILE is a brilliant, masterful, unique movie, with a strong Christian, moral worldview, but it’s marred by lots of strong foul language, some lewd content, nudity, and disturbing, scary content.

Amy Whittaker is a free-lance, struggling writer, living in London. Initially hesitant to get involved in a deadly game with an organization responsible for the disappearance and death of thousands of young women in Europe, she accepts a job from her boss, Vick, to expose an Islamic sex trafficking ring in Syria. Amy researches stories of teenagers lured by Islamic terror recruiters and sold into sex-slavery, or tortured and killed. Amy is compelled to win justice for one victim in particular, Taylor, a lonely teen lured into Syria, with the promises of a better life. Realizing the horror, 18-year-old Taylor tries to escape Syria, but is stoned to death on video.

Amy’s boss, Vick, gives her 21 days to get information from the online predator, Bilel. Security measures are set into place, including the recording of all Skype sessions, and an internal IT specialist, Lou Karim, on every call. Amy discovers Lou has Muslim roots and seriously considers backing out of the assignment. Mounting bills and the need for money urge her to stay with the story.

Amy follows online tactics to win the trust of her militant predator. Abu-Bilel Al-Britani presents himself as a benign, God-honoring victim of society. With each passing day, Bilel promises Amy more and more. Amy falls prey to Bilel’s good looks, charm and promises to keep her safe, give her a life where she never has to work, and treat her “like a queen.” She distances herself from her boyfriend, Matt, her friends and even the security team that’s supposed to keep her safe.

Bilel continues to walk Amy through a web of well-calculated and well-planned deceit. Amy decides she’s ready to marry Bilel and move to Syria. Asserting he loves her more than any other person, he expresses how she has made him the happiest man in the world, right before he is hit by a grenade and blows up in front of her on-screen.

Amy looks at the evidence she’s gathered from a new angle. Could she have harshly misjudged Bilel? Convicted him without a trial? Lost in mourning and feeling responsible for his death, Amy refuses to hand her recordings over to her boss.

Bilel lives through the blast, however, and resurfaces. An overjoyed Amy marries him in an online ceremony and heads to Syria to live with him. Halfway to Syria, Amy reaches out to Bilel for her next steps. He informs her he’s unable to meet her but directs her to an Arabic-speaking escort. Is Amy too head-over-heels in love, or can she find the journalist within to ask the right questions before it’s too late?
