More Detail:
The first episode of Prime Video’s prequel series THE TERMINAL LIST: DARK WOLF follows SEAL-turned-CIA-operative Ben Edwards as he sets out on a revenge mission after the death of a friend. The premiere episode is exciting, full of action and drama that fans of the original series will enjoy. The plot also sets up plenty of unanswered questions that will leave viewers wanting to watch the next episodes.
The first episode of Season One of THE TERMINAL LIST: DARK WOLF has a strong, moral and patriotic worldview as Ben and his platoon want to bring ISIS members to justice. There are also many examples of friendship and loyalty, as the platoon members are very close and Ben defends Daran’s honor, even as the CIA tries to paint him as a terrorist. However, the first episode of DARK WOLF contains numerous instances of strong language, as well as many scenes of violence that feature blood, so MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution for older teenagers and adults.
In 2015, Ben Edwards’ platoon is taking part in a hostage exchange — 18 hostages held by ISIS, in return for one of ISIS’s leaders, Hamid Al-Jabouri. Ben and ISF Colonel Mohammed Farooq are unhappy about the idea of letting Jabouri go, but they follow their orders.
The hostage exchange quickly falls apart — half of the hostages refuse to come any closer to the American soldiers, while Jabouri quickly gets away. As the soldiers try to get the hostages to go to them, a gunfight breaks out. One soldier realizes the hostages were staying away because they had been strapped with bombs, and one goes off.
Three months later, Ben and his platoon are at a base camp helping train ISF soldiers, where James Reece (a familiar face from THE TERMINAL LIST) shows up to take part. Ben speaks to his friend Daran, an ISF interpreter who lost his leg in the hostage exchange. He encourages Daran to move to the US with his family, but Daran insists that he is going to reenlist and help Ben and his platoon. However, on his first day of work, he is visited by a stranger. When a new arms dealer comes to town and Ben’s friend is drawn into a suicide-bombing mission, he must work to uncover the truth and bring the evildoers to justice — even if that means defying the CIA.
