Reel Legends – 19th Annual Awards Gala Set for Feb.

Hollywood, Calif. – Movieguide®: The Family Guide to Movies and Entertainment has set the date and place for the 19th Annual Faith & Values Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry – Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at the Universal Hilton Hotel, in the heart of Hollywood.

The star-studded Gala, which takes place

about 10 days before the annual Oscar® Ceremony, will honor yesterday and today’s Hollywood legends of the silver screen and television.

Among the prestigious prizes and awards handed out that evening will be the $100,000 Epiphany Prizes for Inspiring Movies & TV, the $50,000 Kairos Prizes for Spiritually Uplifting Screenplays by First-Time and Beginning Screenwriters, the Best 10 Movies for Families, the Faith & Freedom Awards for Positive American Values, the Grace Awards for Most Inspiring Performances in Movies & TV, and the Best 10 Movies for Mature Audiences, from teenagers to adults.

“Other awards shows just honor the most critically acclaimed movies and television programs,” said Gala founder and Movieguide® Publisher Ted Baehr. “The Annual Faith & Values Awards Gala also honors those movies and television program that increase man’s love and understanding of God and that promote the Good, the True and the Beautiful.”

At the Gala, Dr. Baehr will present highlights from the Annual Report to the Entertainment Industry, sponsored by Movieguide® and the Christian Film & Television Commission®.

Year in and year out, the Annual Report, a 60 page or more study of box office statistics, TV ratings, cultural trends, and religious beliefs and practices, has shown that family-friendly movies and television programs with Christian, biblical faith and values make the most money and get the highest ratings, and that explicit sex, nudity and ultra-violence don’t really sell.

Dr. Baehr is chairman of the Christian Film & Television Commission® (CFTVC) ministry and publisher of Movieguide® (www.movieguide.org).

CFTVC and Movieguide® are international non-profit organizations dedicated to “redeeming the values of the entertainment industry by influencing industry executives and by informing and equipping the public about the influence of the entertainment media.”
