More Detail:

GOOD LUCK CHUCK, which stars Dane Cook and Jessica Alba, is a raunchy, sex-driven, not-so-funny romantic comedy about a man who has been cursed in love.

When Charlie (Cook) was ten, he refused to kiss a strange Goth-looking girl during a party game of spin-the-bottle. Angry, she hexed Charlie so that he never finds true love and that every woman he is with would then go on to find her own true love right after leaving him. Twenty-years later, the urban legend has grown about women’s love charm, Good Luck Chuck.

At the behest of his demented and sexually deviant best friend, Stu (Dan Fogler), Charlie decides to embrace his destiny by having sexual relations with any and all women who come to him hoping to find their true love, from beautiful strangers to his overweight receptionist. Yet, through all this meaningless sex, Charlie dreads that he may never find his true love. He knows he is unlucky in love.

Then, Charlie meets Cam (Jessica Alba), a young woman who seems to be unlucky in every other way imaginable. Cam is an accident-prone penguin specialist who slips, falls, hits her head, and locks herself out of the car at almost every opportunity possible. For Cam, Charlie gives up all of his fortune-bearing fornication, but, as their romance develops, Charlie fears he may lose the girl of his dreams to the next guy.

Media-wise people should not be fooled. This movie is billed as a comedy and is going to attract a lot of young people, especially teens. To the “myspace” generation, Dane Cook is THE Rock-Star of stand-up comedy. He has a large following of young people. Therefore, large portions of his fans that do not understand media wisdom undoubtedly are going to show up for this awful movie.

Yet, every parent and teen needs to know to avoid this movie. This is not simply 96 minutes of raunchy and harmless entertainment. This is movie will put viewers, especially young people, in mental and spiritual bondage, from which many of them may never escape.

Matthew 18:6 – “But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”
